J. Herbin Fountain Pen Ink - 10 ml Bottled - Ambre de Birmanie
A**.
Ships in plastic bottle with wrong label
While I like the ink a lot, it came in a plastic bottle, not a glass one. And the label on the bottle says it's 30ml, not 100ml. Clearly that is wrong. So who is putting this ink in 100ml bottles with 30ml labels? Is this legitimate Herbin ink, or is someone counterfeiting? One way or another, the ink looks great and performs well. I just wish that, at this price, it didn't come in a cheesy plastic bottle with an incorrect label on it.

Good things really do come in small packages!
At first, I thought the product was very small, almost “sample” size as I’m used to the usual rectangular J. Herbin ink bottle. However, the photo clears that up and it does say 10ml which is metric, of course, being French and not the familiar U.S. designation (.34 oz). However, as with all my orders from this seller (Hyatt Family) it arrived quickly and well-packed. It’s a nice grey ink with greenish overtones and I’m sure I will write quite a few letters from this compact bottle. It also has a very secure screw top for travel. I’m very satisfied and will order again.

I want to buy their deeper colors, still cute though
I love the color(Corail des Tropique) of this ink. It was one my first fountain pen inks , along with Noodler's Burma Road Brown. So far I really love the concept, packaging and colors of J. Herbin inks. I think maybe the consistency of the actual ink was a little too thin for my pen, a TWSBI Eco T with a fine nib. It works and looks fine but it's a mental adjustment every time I switch from a different brand of ink. I also think a considerable factor of that adjustment is not only the thinner consistency but also the lightness in value of this specific color. I think I'm realizing how great heavily saturated or darker colors are honestly. It's still a gorgeous ink with a fancy aesthetic.

Two problems with this ink. First, it is horribly light, much lighter than it appears on the bottle label on Amazon. I found it very difficult to read when I went back to read what I had written. Second problem, it comes in a 10 ML bottle. In case you don't realize, this is quite small. Because of how small the bottle is, when I put the pen in to fill it the ink overflowed the bottle and spilled all over my counter. I gave it two stars because if you want a light colored green ink then this might work for you. Just don't put the pen in the bottle too far!

Ink on the go
Perle noire is... a rare find. It has in my opinion all the qualities I look for in a black ink. It flows well, has great contrast, and makes it easier to write on most available paper surfaces. This small bottle is easy to pack and works well with my old snorkel.

Lovely Ink
This is one of my favorite reds. It’s a dark burgundy red with no orange tones. And being J. Herbin, it is always well behaved.

It's hard to collect these and stop at 3 bottles- I always have the feeling I am in a sweet shop when selecting a bottle- a huge fan of pen and ink , they are hardly surpassed- if you choose white paper or antique white experiment with soft hues inca lol the brasil and this adorable myosotis blue which is an Edwardian shade and transform your mundane handwriting in to something unique all over again. Greatest quality and each lasts for years.
