TGM is brilliant!
I have been playing golf for 25 years and have over 120 DVD's and books on the game. I play off a handicap of 7. It has taken me 3 years and an number of attempts to completely read and begin to apply to principles of this amazing book. I also have had to benefit of an authorised instructor of TGM to assist me understand the subtleties of book. Having said this, the book is not for all as it will only appeal to those who truly want to confront the complexity and technical difficulty pure ball striking in a consistent manner. In the last months, I have not played much golf but have scored regularly in the mid 70's, with consistent ball striking. The reason for this is the ability to begin to harness the feeling in the hands of four pressure points and their associated accumulators and the true direction of loading and release. I don't see TGM as complex in its information, but it is difficult to navigate. However, the book is a brilliant piece of work.

The Golfing Machine
This is a must read for all golfers with IQ's over 120. Below 120, you're too dumb. If you can think, possibly have a degree, this book will make perfect sense. Read it through, think about how you swing and what works and what doesn't and it makes absolute sense. If you have a very short attention span, possibly adult ADHD, don't bother, you won't be able to focus to "get" this stuff. Homer Kelly was a prodigious thinker and note writer and this was his book. It's been fussed over and "rewritten" to make it a little easier to read but you get the gist of it anyway. Don't let all the jargon and continual referencing of things other than where you're reading bog you down. The message is this: take what you want from this amazing dissertation and you WILL HAVE A MUCH BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE PHYSICS OF GOLF THAN YOU EVER DID BEFORE.

Not easy, but very complete.
Not an easy read, but not because of the physics or geometry... rather the use of the English language, self-defined terms and numerous references make it very difficult to parse and comprehend. That said, it is the only complete system that describes every possible golf stroke, components and variations. Best framework for understanding golf, but you still need to figure how you game fits in (pattern) and teach yourself your best game

A very, very unorthodox golf book... "The Golfing Machine".
This book isn't for everyone. Fact is, it's usage is very, very narrow. Unless you're use to reading engineering copy and understand what Omar Kelley is trying to say, this book isn't useful. This book is for those golfers that want to better understand how the "swing forces" contribute to hitting a golf ball straight or with spin. Omar makes it more difficult than it has to be and he doesn't suggest the best way to swing or hit the ball ( hitters vs swingers). Once you choose how you normally like to swing (or hit), you can then apply the laws of physics and the human anatomy to his principles. There are some gems of wisdom hidden in the copy that you can gleam even if you don't like or understand most of the principles. Can't believe he took 40 years to produce the first edition without making some changes that are easier to read. He did it his way.

Highly technical
The Golfing Machine provides substantiated input for the true golfer. Not only fundamentals, but also various perspectives with cross references. Not something for the fainthearted to read during a late afternoon.Contends requires full attention and concentrated in depth reading. The information provided substantiates Ben Hogan's Five Lessons as well as Bobby Clampett's The Impact Zone.

Four Stars
Can be quite daunting. Not for the faint of heart, but exceptionally informative

Great Book
I am only into the second chapter and I am enjoying the science of the golf swing. The approach that Homer Kelley took is so different thatn other books that I am reading. It's nice to have a different perspective on the golf swing.
