Good product, USA made
I have not performance tested this, but I bought 2 and the other person had and says it works well for protecting against slag/spatter burns and whatnot.I bought mine for an as-needed basis and keep it stationed with a lil label I made. Put some hangers on it to make it easy to retrieve.Finding USA made emergency response equipment can be a daunting task, so I commend the manufacturers as I received an item quickly and as described. Seems durable, it ain't an itchfest, and gives me confidence it'll work as intended when needed.Thanks.

More than others but nicer
This is more than some other ones but it is better built. This one can be cut to other sizes if needed and it dissipates heat extremely well. Must have for welding or soldering.

Tested with my Oxy/Acetylene torch.
I bought this mat to replace my fiberglass mats that are falling apart. I use the mats to shield the internals of a refrigerator when doing sealed system repairs. I haven't used this on a fridge yet but because of the responses I received when I asked, I took this mat and put my torch to it. I set my torch up like I normally would when brazing and held the tip about two inches from the mat for 30 seconds. The mat discolored but did not burn. I'm going to double the mat up and sew it together and use it that way. Also, the mat did hold water when I tried that with an un-heated section. I think this will work just fine for my brazing with an Oxy/Acetylene torch, especially if I get it wet.

actually works
I looked everywhere to find some sort of fireproof mat to put under a cheminea fireplace I have on my wooden deck. This fabric mat is fireproof, I tested it by building a fire on it. It transmits heat through the fabric, the fabric gets hot, but the flames do not burn it and the flames are kept away from what is under the mat.

Apprehensive but worked
I had a really tight area to work in, with flammable foam and insulation around copper pipe that needed to be welded. Made sure behind and above work area was covered and no issues

Works great for pellet smoker
Bought to put over my pellet smoker for during the cold Canadian winters. Worked great for my 18 hour brisket cook overnight when the temperatures dropped below -20.

not used for what you think
I bought this for a DIY recipe that uses methanol in the homemade fuel device.Methanol is insanely hot burning. Way more temp than the propane bottle attached head it was to replace on the hiking burner cooker I bought in stores. It also happens to act as the non burning wick in the chamber. For some reason wicks of most any sort arent available to even try at any location in the nearby near 2 million pop. sized city. Same goes for welding blankets like this, pure carbon felt instead of fiberglass. Its like the welding shops had no clue what I was talking about. If filled wrong the meth stove can build vapor, vapor pops the chamber top off (POWERFULLY) and the bottom portion tips out of the reflector/stand. Trial and error, not common knowledge until it happened. The blanket was folded out in front of this, and took what was likely invisible methanol fluid on fire as well as the red hot glowing mantle top without a problem. Nothing under it was harmed. You can bet it spared the floor it was on.
