I purchased the book to due to my interest in the history of fly fishing in the USA. This book is not your average guide book for fishing the Catskills. It far exceeded my expectations with stories about the history of the area including famous people some of the flies we all use are named after. I really enjoyed learning about the Catskills and the famous rivers. Highly recommended.

Early lives...industries on the river that almost destroyed the river. Towns that used to exist...buried underneath reservoirs to satisfy the need for water for New York city.

Great overview of all the Catskill Rivers, the birthplace of fly fishing in America. Must reading for anyone who wants to learn about the colorful characters who will always be the Golden Age of fly fishing. I now feel so grateful to live close to the Catskills, so close to an important part of history.
