Excellent filtration,excellent product
I have purchased these in the past from Aquatic Arts and found them to be an excellent product. I have 4 20 gallon tanks full of snails! Huge Mystery snails and.now Ramshorn .. the Mystery snails create A LOT of ammonia even with canister filters and daily half tank water changes these things are beautiful, but filthy. They love these rocks. If the Ph gets too high before I get the eater changed I’ve seen the Mystery snails nearly swallow these rocks whole to breathe. This was years ago when I first started with the Mystery snails and was actually one of the older ones who couldn’t make it to the top for his air intake.. I found that he had nearly swallowed one of these rocks in order to breathe … this is when I really knew how well these filtration rocks worked. Now I use them as substrate and add them to the canister filters. Amazing filtration and keeps the water crystal clear. When the rocks gets dirty I drag them out, place in a kidded container with fresh water and shake the dirt off.Highly recommend.

IT is working for me in several tanks
this is my first time using one of the all natural bio media options out there but this is what i went with.honestly it just works for me. ive not tried other options in the same vain like matrix or a bio block or live rock ect. most of my filtering needs are met with several different types of sponge filter media and bio balls but i still needed more filtration to deal with some overcrowding and a few spikes of ammonia here and there . i can't say anything about those other products being better or worse but after having used these now for about a yr between 2 separate purchases and monitoring everything, they seem to hold up to their claims. i have not had any of the rocks break down or dissolve in any way, i havent needed to or seen a reason to clean them due to built up of any kind, and it has stabilized a heavily overpopulated 80gal via a small custom sump housing a 3in turtle 3 large goldfish, a 6in pleco, 2 dozen mixed species of minnows and has very few plants helping the biosphere so all in all for that reason alone i will say i like this product. but i also added some into my 30gal shrimp tank and 55gal community tank as well that sometimes struggle when i can't get around to regular tank maintenance from everyday life and i have been happy with the results from that. its not an excuse for poor maintenance but lets face it if it makes life easier its a win win if it does its job-that was kind of my thought before buying and it has been working for me. most hang on back filters seem under engineered or just lacking all to often anyways. even with aTetra Whisper EX Silent Multi-Stage Power Filter (witch i vastly overpaid for locally) on my 55 heavily planted tank had more fluctuations than it should ill spare the details, im going on and on and probably could keep doing so but again its working for me and besides a little dust in the box from shipping and a few rocks that floated when first adding them to water i have no other problems with it. i didnt even bother to rinse or wash em before adding them to my tanks to avoid contaminates.

Interesting stuff
This one was a saga of ordering, order cancelling, reordering, and still arriving late. What is a body to do?!I had ordered this from Aquatic Arts by request, I've never used the product before. Due to delays it was going to arrive too late for the scheduled setup, so I canceled the original order and placed a new order that was supposed to deliver the day before I needed it. Well life being what it was, it ended up getting shipped from Aquatic Arts anyways, and arriving a day late. I'm guessing Amazon's back ordered product never arrived, so they passed the order on to Aquatic Arts for fulfillment. So, now I have a box of product i've never used and no aquarium to try it out in. Solution? Dump it in the beta tank! /shrugOverall, it seems like an interesting product, I look forward to having a large aquarium to actually try it out in.It's neutrally buoyant, so while it does sit on the bottom of the tank, it's not heavy and will slowly work its way out from under heavier substrate.I had to give it a really really good rinse as there was quite a lot of sandy dust covering the material. I can't figure out if this is man made or some naturally occurring material. I'd say it was man made, except that they really do look like natural rocks, with many different appearances, and no real uniformity. For now, I dumped a handful into my Beta's 5 gallon. This is a planted tank, I'm really curious to see how it effects plant growth.

Great!
This is a wonderful, cost-efficient substitute for ANY other biological media. It works perfectly in canister filters, and work MUCH better than the bio-rings or ceramic balls that are typically used. I'm very glad I discovered this product; as now I won't have to buy expensive Eheim Substrat Bio-media every six months, which adds up quickly!I do recommend that you thoroughly wash these media in tank water, to remove the thick coating of powder that covers the media. Just rinse it off before you put it into your filter.I'll stick with this product forever! Thanks guys!

Fantastic product from the USA
Amazing stuff. My small lot came loose in a bag with some darker stones. Some fell to the bottom of the tank immediately and some floated on the top. I put a handful loose in the top of my filter. This is helping immensely with my overstocked tank. I had inherited a bunch of fish 2 weeks ago and I can't rehome them until after the holidays. This is really helping with their quality of life. They will be going into a friends 80 gallon tank soon : )

Have them in a fish tank and have to rinse ...
Have them in a fish tank and have to rinse the rocks every other week because a funky slime grows on the rocks. Water is clear but slime is an unwanted side effect.
