Very informative
I absolutely loved this book. I got it for a lesson that I was teaching. It has really good in detail information to put things into words that are complicated to explain to young children. There is also an experiment in the book that we got to do as a class that explained everything so so well.

Smells terrible
I wanted to use these in my classroom but this book as well as the other book that I ordered with it have such an odor that it will be some time before I can use them if I can get the odor out.

Great Homeschooling Resource
I am a homeschooling mother of two and constantly looking for educational material. At the time I purchased "What makes Day and Night" my daughter was in grade 2 and I needed a book with good information, high quality illustrations and photo's and also a book that she could enjoy by herself. I came to love the "Let's read and find out Science" books, they coincide well with the school curriculum and they are much more fun than prescribed school books. "What Makes Day and Night" is no exception, we read the book over and over, it never fails to impress and amaze. Needless to say it is not the only "Let's read and find out Science" book in our library.

Great for teaching about night and day!
This was a bit over the head of my three year old, but he's been asking about night and day, so we needed something. Despite being for a little bit older crowd, he was pretty interested in it, and sat through the whole book. We talked about the pictures of the earth, how it spins, etc. I think at least some of the ideas rubbed off on him. Great book, looking forward to reading more of them from the series!

Wonderful teacher
It's hard to find non-fiction for young children that is easy to read. I normally have to adapt the text to a simple version that they understand. You can actually read this book to them and if you grab a ball and a lamp to show them this concept, they will understand the concept by the end of the book. The light definitely went off in my 5 year old's head. He really enjoyed it. I want more books like this.

Easy to follow.
Very good and easy to follow with words and pictures. Also provided a neat experiment to do with your child to help develop a deeper understanding.

Another good book in this series!
Arrived on time. Content is great for my 4 and 6 year old. Scientific but not over their heads! Illustrations pair well. We love these series of books.

They are a great introduction to science for little children
We have most of the Level 1 books. They are a great introduction to science for little children. The only reason these don't get five stars is because a slightly bigger font size would have made these books excellent.

Nice
It is a very nice book that can help the above average English speaking child understand why we have day and night.

A brilliant series of science books
This is a Stage 2 book and is aimed at children aged 5-9 years old. "Stage 2 books explore more challenging concepts for children in the primary grades." There are 32 pages and each one has a lovely, colourful illustration to accompany the well written child-friendly text. It is such a well presented book in that it presents the facts very clearly and concisely but also in such a way as to encourage the child to want to learn more at the end and to go and try the experiment. A lot of books are picked up, read (or just flicked through) and then put down. In my opinion, this book actively encourages the child to think further about the subject and hopefully lead them on to more science subjects. I home school my child and am constantly seeking books that will not only appeal to her but are also written in a style that we BOTH understand and this does just that. Loved it.

early readers
My nephew loved this from the moment he picked it up. Nicely presented, true to non-fiction format. My nephew is almost 5.
