DEEP VALLEY Organic Dark Roast Whole Bean Coffee, 12 OZ

Given how eco-friendly this coffee seems to be, I really wanted to like this. I bought the dark roast and hate to say the beans are over roasted to the point where the aftertaste is basically just that-- over roasted, slightly burnt coffee. The texture is nice and velvety and you get some dark roast coffee flavor at the start of the sip. But after a few seconds the burnt flavor kicks in and then the pleasure is gone.I've adjusted how much beans I'm using, switched to a coarser grind, lowered my water temperature (I recommend nothing hotter than 195°F for this dark roast), and threw in a pinch of salt in hopes of reducing the mild bitterness/burnt flavor with only mild success. It's drinkable so I won't have to toss these, but I'll just say I'm now being incredibly heavy-handed with how much beans I'm using because I'm looking forward to an empty coffee canister.Maybe I got a dud batch. Or maybe Light or Medium roast is where it's at. Either way, I'm pretty hesitant to try it again.

This product is fantastic. I had it lab tested and it is truly organic… Not a trace of anything.
