What is the use for the 2 O-rings and leather pads?

Some cameras have slots on the side where you attach your camera strap. Some have loops. The 2 rings are to attach to the camera rings and the pads are to be placed between the rings and the camera to prevent scratching the camera. Do not use them if you have a slot on your camera.
