CoolibarUPF 50+ Women's Arcadian Packable Sunblock Jacket - Sun Protective

We put these jackets through tough outdoor use for over five years.and though NOT PERFECT, they are close enough.Being a little short on style, this jacket Is the BEST FUNCTIONING SUN JACKET.The material is so ultra thin that it creates some manufacturing dilemma.The zippers tend to catch and or malfunction and the sleeves sleeves arenot long enough to protect all wrist.But I don't buy sun jackets so I can look good.It is all about the material, which is the BEST.These jackets are so light that they feel like wearing almost nothing.But the material is TOUGH.My daughter still wears her original that is five years old and should be thread bear by now.Every other fabric tested traps more heat and makes me overheat.As an outdoor product reviewer, I have tried everything.I have closets full of high priced sun gear, and we still reach for these jackets when the heat is up.We can pick anything out of the closet, but everyone keeps picking these, year after year.No other product uses this material, and I am assuming that is because of the priceand the difficulty in sewing such thin material.So, this is very much a specialty product and a specialty market.This may not be for you.There are some problems with fit and fashion.Yes, the jackets seem rather unisex in style and not form fitting.The sleeves are somewhat short as in previous versions so you will needto wear some gloves or hand protection.

I'm 5'2", 95lbs, small chested and slender. A Coolibar XXS usually fits me best but sometimes I want a little "breathing room" and have to go with an XS. This jacket seems to run slightly larger than normal so the XS was too big and the XXS was perfect - with room to spare. There is length in the sleeves so they don't just cut off right at my wrist and the jacket is roomy and long enough to accommodate clothing underneath. For me, the XXS is perfect in this jacket.

I did an extensive research on all the UPF jackets out there for 2 days. Ordered two jackets of Coolibar to compare and this is the one I picked as it looks really good, high quality and extremely comfortable. It's become my uniform these days and I don't go out without it. It has a hoody so it helps me cover my head when it's windy. Also, it has perforation inside on the sides which makes me feel comfortable in heat. BTW, the other day I wore it to a blueberry picking in 85 degrees. I wore it above 90 degrees as well. It is expensive by the way, but I invested in this to to be used for next 10 years. OR, I might end up buying another one way before 10 years as I've been wearing it everyday ever since I bought it.

For me the arms are a couple inches too short, especially when driving. I am 5'9.5 inches tall, 130 pounds and ordered a medium. The bottom of this jacket is a little on the wide, or large side, but that I can tolerate. I would like for my wrists to be protected from the sun when driving. However, the color (light purple) is so beautiful and the jacket so light with nice pockets and sturdy zipper, that I will keep it and enjoy it for the most part in spite of the short sleeve length.

This is my second jacket to order. Now I have the white and tan. It protects my arms from the sun, and is lightweight enough to not get me too hot. If I’m walking in the sun, it definitely feels hotter than not wearing it, but not unbearable. It does take the chill off when wearing inside if I’m too cold. Machine wash just fine.

I’m a big fan and the fit is great. I ordered a medium and I’m 140lb 5’5 with small shoulders but larger breast’s. I’m glad I didn’t go with a large after reading the other reviews I wasn’t so sure. First time ordering this brand and I took off a star for being over priced. I ordered the white and it’s quite sheer, which, I don’t mind, but thought I let the other shoppers know.

I love coolibar products and this is no different. Protective, lightweight and breathable. This is a little more loose fitting than expected. I’m a size 6 and most of my coolibar products are size small. Exchanged this one for an XS, which has slightly shorter sleeves but that doesn’t bother me as much as the loose waist.

I love this jacket! Wore it while traveling in Alaska so I could have something (besides my skin) to put the bug spray on. It's nice and lightweight so easy to wear even in hot temps, and the pockets are extra handy!
