reliable and easy to use
We are cattle ranchers surviving California's drought, and knowing our wells drawdown and recovery is critical to our survival. This gadget is priceless! It has proven accurate (we checked it against a tape water measuring device), reliable and easy to use. It has proven to be extremely durable too - we have been loaning it to our neighbors and have not had a lick of trouble.

You get what you pay for....
This unit costs much less than others and is another example of the old saying "you get what you pay for." Very inconsistent readings and low reliability. Save your money or spend the extra and get a unit that works as advertised.

I had best luck setting the 'Offset' to zero (0
I bought a new Well Sounder 2010 PRO off amazon.com in August 2014. The Texas Water Development Board measured the static aquifer level at my well with an e-line yesterday. My Well Sounder's static aquifer measurement was off by 7 foot too high.I was able to calibrate the settings in my sounder to get my sounder's reading within 0.5 ft of the e-line measurement.1. By adjusting the 'MIN Depth' settings to 2.00 inches less than the actual e-line measurement.2. And although my casing protrudes from the ground 1.4 feet, I had best luck setting the 'Offset' to zero (0.00 inches)Without the e-line baseline measurement though, I would not have been able to accurately calibrate my sounder. So I feel that this sounder is good for 1 well, and 1 well only; and only after calibrated against an e-line measurement.* as the static aquifer level declines with annual pumpage, I'm not sure if this sounder will be accurate enough to show the new aquifer levels in years to come, because I had to adjust the 'MIN Depth' setting beyond what was actually measured with an e-line. That parameter will change annually with pumpage, so theoretically (arbitrary) re-calibration of the sounder's settings will be a necessity. In other words, I got the sounder to within +/- 0.5ft accuracy ... TODAY. I don't expect the same % of accuracy in next year's measurement.

EASY AND ACCURATE!
I have had my well sounder for approximately one year and I have had nothing but the most accurate and consistent measurements in the wells I have tested. I have used many other traditional "tapes" and had them hung up in 1500 feet of well only to cut it and spend another $2,000 for another unit. This unit will automatically compensate for the temperature variances in your wells in addition to the available flow meters which I use for draw down testing on many of my well tests. Lastly once you turn on the unit it will give you a reading in a few seconds, which is important when you have multiple wells or bore holes you are working with. I have sold several of my friends on this unit and they all agree that this is is easiest and most accurate unit they have ever used.
