The Dark Knight: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack returns with the ASCAP winning composers from Batman Begins- Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer and seven time Oscar nominee James Newton Howard- for a powerful orchestral score. Review: Perfectly Composed Score When I Was 12 - I can get into my specific favorites such as "Why So Serious?", "Like A Dog Chasing Cars", or "Agent of Chaos", but I would just be saying what everyone is thinking: I'm only 30 years old, and I can easily say that Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard are the GOATed composers of our generation🙋🏾♂️. In my parents' time, the GOAT was obviously John Williams lol, but I swear, every movie Hans and/or James touches is always a masterpiece🙂 Review: Coleccionable - Elegante súper para coleccionar un disco es morado y el otro es verde haciendo homenaje al joker

Perfectly suited to the movie, and gets better with each listen
This music is suited perfectly to the tone of the movie, and I came out of the movie thinking that the score was almost another character of the film. Visual sets and actor's performances are easy to appreciate, but without an effective score, many movies would fall flat. What I didn't expect was how much I enjoyed each repeated listening. I enjoy good movie soundtracks, and my recent favorites include the entire "Complete Recordings" collection from the Lord of the Rings movies by Howard Shore ( The Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring (The Complete Recordings) remains my favorite of the three). Now that I've had time to listen to this title a few times, and also those other titles, I find myself enjoying this one more and more each time. Make no mistake, this score is as dark as the movie. You're not going to get anything light and airy here, but if you've seen the movie, you know what to expect. My wish is that they would release this soundtrack as an alternate audio track on the DVD and Blu-ray release, as I believe that it would provide an even deeper appreciation of what Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard have accomplished here. I would easily pay the purchase price of this soundtrack again to be able to experience that! If you enjoyed the movie, and you like music, I think you will enjoy this!

The soundtrack that Gotham needs but not the one it deserves
Less than 6 months after the release of the original motion picture soundtrack, a 2-disc "Special Edition" is released obviously to cash in on the film's unprecedented box office success earning $530 million domestically and almost $1 billion worldwide making The Dark Knight the second highest grossing (unadjusted) film in history since the mighty Titanic. The teaming of James-Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer is the perfect synthesis of orchestral and electronic scoring and together they have created a bold, epic masterpiece that was edited and missing several cues on its initial soundtrack album and it was apparent that they were holding out some material for an inevitable expanded release further down the road. Surprisingly, we didn't have to wait very long for it. While it is marketed as a "Special Edition" (not to be confused with the The Dark Knight Limited Edition digi-pack of the original release") such wording can be misleading by giving the buyer the impression that they are getting the "complete" uncut score and for the price one would expect nothing less than the kind of exemplary release demonstrated by The Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring (The Complete Recordings) with correct arrangements and alternate versions. Some may be disappointed that all of the unreleased cues appear entirely on Disc 2 while Disc 1 is a straight reissue of the original album that most fans probably already have and not in the proper sequential arrangement of the film. For example Bank Robbery (Prologue) is track 1 on Disc 2 and "We Are Tonight's Entertainment" (Disc 2 track 9) should precede "A Little Push" (Disc 1 track 7), etc. I prefer to listen to film scores in their linear film arrangement so if you want to listen to both CDs in their proper film sequencing it will require some daft "re-editing" since several tracks contain cues that were edited together such as "I'm Not A Hero" which follows the Bank Robbery scene but contains music from the Hong Kong scene appearing later in the film. This is a solid 5-star score and one of the most memorable film scores I have heard in a long time. All of the previously unreleased cues are compiled onto the second disc and the 4 bonus electronica remixes are interesting but just seem more like filler material for the rest of the second disc. I'm surprised they didn't just release these on a separate album entirely marketed as "Music Inspired By The Dark Knight." I would have preferred to hear composers' outtakes or alternate versions of the score instead and most importantly have them completely un-edited and arranged correctly. On the other hand, the hardbound collector's booklet and the slipcase packaging are nice and help to give it "a little push" for collectors to have but it's kind of a tossup. If you haven't already bought the original album, this is the obvious choice to buy but for those who already purchased it it's kind of a sneaky double-dip dilemma worthy of Two-Face himself, but a choice you'll have to make if you're a fan. This CD deserves a better class of soundtrack.

Amazing soundtrack to an amazing movie!
My all-time favorite Batman movie and superhero movie and one of the best movie soundtracks ever. My favorite track is Agent of Chaos, from when the Joker breaks out of jail, Batman rescues Harvey, and Rachel dies. The Dark Knight track is also fantastic. Hans Zimmer is one of my favorite composers, and his contributions to Batman were some of the best! I love The Dark Knight and the soundtrack adds more to the awesomeness. I definitely recommend this to Batman fans and people who like music as well. I love everything about the CD and I could listen to it all day and never get tired of it.

Majestic Theme
Greetings from an Australian and a film soundtrack fan. Taking as my starting point how wonderful the themes composed were woven into the movie, I didn't need much encouragement to purchase this soundtrack. Especially the main haunting theme that to me signifies a hero with great abilities and yet there is a sadness to what he witnesses and has to confront. But it is a majestic theme most importantly. It is in my experience, and I've been collecting soundtracks for 25 years, quite unusual for two major film composers to unite for the one film score. I think they pull it off beautifully - it does not intrude into the film and yet is a cinematic achievement in its own right. A lot of the music is incidental music. Bit I heartily recommend purchasing the original soundtrack for the Main Theme alone. As an Australian fan, with Heath Ledger's passing, it would have been great to have extracts from his dialogue as The Joker on the soundtrack, as is done quite often. I thought this was a missed opportunity to remember one of the great performances in cinematic history.

Music Of The Gods
Has there ever been music more suited to a movie? Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard's score to 'The Dark Knight,' is as thrilling and heart pounding as the action on screen. The heavy, percussive nature of the music is almost relentless; it is like Thor pounding his hammer! Indeed, there is no better illustration of this emphasis on powerful, driving rhythms than in the brilliant track, 'Like A Dog Chasing Cars;' its heroic main theme emerging through a cacophony of strident strings and pounding percussion to stand triumphant. It is a masterpiece of Wagnerian proportions! However, it is not all sturm und drang, for there are moments of beauty in which the strings are allowed to sweep; most notably in 'Blood On My Hands,' and another favourite of mine, 'Harvey Two-Face.' All in all, the music is monumental, epic, beautiful and grandiose, and as I'm running out of adjectives, I shall now end this review, but not before I make one final observation: 'The Dark Knight' is orchestral music you can actually head bang to, should you feel so inclined. Here is the full track list:- 1. Why So Serious 2. I'm Not A Hero 3. Harvey Two-Face 4. Aggressive Expansion 5. Always A Catch 6. Blood On My Hands 7. A Little Push 8. Like A Dog Chasing Cars 9. I Am The Batman 10. And I Thought My Jokes Were Bad 11. Agent Of Chaos 12. Introduce A Little Anarchy 13. Watch The World Burn 14. The Dark Knight

Sound is fantastic , worth buying the CD as do not have to be concerned with compression .
The CD was brought mostly as what is heard is the actual movie music . Also it pays to buy the CD , as downloads have lots of compression ,in which a lot of good sounds are lost . Also you are putting your trust into people and companie's that make and distribute official and authentic material .
