Schlage is a trusted company for locks. The product arrived in a plain brown box but had Schlage stamp on the handle. The price was competitive with other locks listed on Amazon. It was easy to install and, hopefully, will last for years.

Wow! it's a doorknob
Turn it left or right to open your door (then pull or push). If the knob doesn't turn, its locked. Not sure why I just explained how a doorknob works. Anyway - One common issue with installation is the position of the screws and their alignment with the knob. It makes it impossible to tighten the screws without your driver touching the knob - TIP: use painters tape or something to avoid scratching it.

Can’t go wrong with Schlage! I replaced a older brass Schlage knob with this one after repainting the entrance door from my garage that leads into the house. It’s sleek and solid and was super easy to install. Good price point too.

3 IMPORTANT items to know about
1. Locking the door - when turned lateral, it is LOCKED.2. When is it turned up/down, the handle is UNLOCKED.3. When locked, if you turn from the inside, the door becomes UNLOCKED.Combining this with a lifetime of experiencing the opposite with #1 and #2 opens us up to a greater risk of locking ourselves out or leaving it unlocked unintentionally.Haven't found a way to reverse it. Considering returning the item but I'll check with Schlage first to see if it can be reversed. Will update if there is a way to reverse the mechanism so it's functioning normal.Update: Returned
