Not too shiney, not to flat. Exactly what I expected

I initially got some Maybelline concealer and eyeshadow packs in a raffle from my job, but honestly I feel so passionate about them that I’ve begun buying them myself, and since Amazon is the best place to do it, I felt it was warranted to write a review. First of all, drugstore makeup brands deserve way more credit than they get, the products actually work really well, and in some cases better than their boutique counterparts. With that said, there’s also a ton of crap out there that caters to people who don’t invest in their makeup, so I see how people can come to that conclusion about the brands. Anyway, with the concealer, I initially had some problems with the way that it laid on my face, to be honest I saw a bit of the “caked on” vibe some of the other reviewers have seen, but when I went to a makeup counter (for eyebrow makeup, I never skimp on that) the artist told me that it was my skin that was making the my made up face look weird, and that I had tons of dead skin on both my t-zone and on my cheekbones. Well, that made sense. So I started to exfoliate, and voila, the makeup really started working for me. I guess it’s true what they say, you have to start with great skin. At any rate, I now think that the makeup is working really well, and the value is really unbelievable.Update: The exfoliator I used is called TreeActiv Anti Acne & Rosacea Treatment Sulfur Mask Plus Rhassoul, Bentonite Clay Mask with Witch Hazel & Aloe Vera - Refreshing Lemon Scent (1 Jar) (8 Oz) I noticed that other reviewers who were mentioning other products provided a link through, and figured I’d lend a hand. It’s still continuing to work well for my face, and I’m still using the Maybelline concealer (and eyeshadow) which make my face look great!

I need more practice. During Covid I did not make up every day as I previously did. Now retired and the same - rarely go out where I make up. However, I love Maybelline products and this eye shadow set fits all my requirements. Love the colors.

Maybelline Eyeshadow Quads in Natural Smokes allows you to create a dramatic or day-time look without breaking the bank. This is the second color I've tried in this particular line, and I have to say that I am thrilled and coming back for more! They have pretty good staying power, and eyeshadow tends to fade on me. I love these browns, and when I want a more dramatic look I also use Physicians Formula kohl eyeliner in black or brown.I do wish the compact was easier to open, but I've solved that by using a thumb nail to lift off the top, and problem solved! If you never used Maybelline before, or haven't tried it in a long time, by all means give this item a try. Lately, I've noticed that their products have seemed to be much higher quality than the company produced years ago. Give it a try!

Who needs to spend like $60 on the naked palettes when you literally have all the shades that you need in this quad. The brown liner shadow is perfect and I actually use the crease colour as my liner because it gives it a softer look. Love it, great pigmentation, great price
