Furman Power Conditioner (M-8X AR)

I bought this just 4 weeks ago for $70 more! I wanted to buy a Furman AR117 almost 20 years ago but opted for the much cheaper PL Plus Power Conditioner which has served me well for the last 2 decades. However a Power Conditioner is powerless (pun intended) against spikes or drops in voltage. Even though 95% of the venues I've had to DJ in have had stable 120V, I have experienced issues with low or extreme Voltage in a few places. These fluctuations mostly affect sensitive electronics like CD decks and more recently my Denon MC 6000 Controller which malfunctioned during both low and high Voltage recently at two different gigs.Since installing the M-8X AR in my rack a few weeks ago I've had nothing but stable 120V and no equipment issues at all! This type of unit sits quietly in your rack and just works, almost invisible and unseen, except for the 3 tiny green lights indicating that Voltage is within range, the actual Voltage and that protection is OK. I won't get to test it with a generator until next year but have no doubt that the issues I recently experienced will not reoccur. I debated whether to spend double on the more advanced P-1800 AR but couldn't justify the cost based on my needs. Based on my past experience with Furman products I have no doubt that the M-8X AR will provide solid protection for years to come.

The unit adjusts the voltage every time the AC turns on, or I turn on one of my monoblock amps, receiver, or subwoofer. I rest assured that my precious, to me, stereo gear is receiving a solid 120V AC at all times. I haven't noticed, nor did I expect, any change in the quality of the sound of my system. I have a Furman - Elite 15 PFi for line conditioning.This product works quite well, as far as I can tell. My voltmeter reads a steady 120V AC. I don't have an oscilloscope to check the waveform to see if it is a new clean sine wave.

Certainly seems to help my tube guitar amps as far as performance predictability. You would think at this price point ya might get a light on it like the cheaper power conditioner only models have... but I suppose I knew it didn't before purchasing so I can't hold that against it. A light in the back would be even better than out front! In a rack, in a dark club, trying to set up quickly I always need a light back there.

Stay with your music suppliers like sweetwater.com or musiciansfriend, etc. This unit completely shat the bed after 3 months of light use, and amazon wouldn't have anything to do with it.

This rack definitely does what it is supposed to, but it cause audio interference with my computer so I had to send it back.

This piece of equipment seems to have remedied my band's sound system woes created by portable generators, old wiring. etc. I am very pleasedwith this purchase.

Inexpensive voltage regulator because it's made in China.
