12 Yards Cotton Covered Poly Polyester Boning 12mm Polypropylene (Black)

Amazingly easy to use and the casing lies flat automatically. I have not been able to find boning, in this amount, much like the price, anywhere else. It cuts easily, with a little strength and sharp blade, and can be hand-sown through both the casing and the boning itself, if you use a sharp and thicker needle. If you need to use vertically or on edge, you may have to hand stitch, depending on materials. Ultimately, I would recommend. I used it on 2 commissioned projects, one with a corset style top, and that was easy to install; and one for a tail, which I used vertically, with a twist to flat at one point, and it held perfectly. Regardless of what you are making, the versatility of the product is wonderful.

If you are looking for heavy duty, this is not it. It is sturdier than featherweight which is about all you’ll find at Jo-Ann’s but not as thick as plastic boning. Is very flexible and will work for costumes that don’t have to be historically accurate or wedding/formal dresses That being said it was exactly like described, great value and came 2 days sooner than estimated. Very happy.

You will not get cotton covered boning as pictured. Instead you will receive a polyester casing with no boning. I thought that its may have just been a mix up in product, but the product is mislabeled and you will get the wrong product because of this error. The product has a barcode on it and when I scanned the bar code using the amazon app it goes to this product that is supposed to be cotton covered boning.

My first project with boning was so easy! I saw that I needed boning and casing or bias tape, then had trouble finding places that sold casing (and bias tape is pricey). So I was very tickled to find this boning that includes both! When cutting I found I needed to remove a bit of excess boning so there were ends of casing I could sew shut. So when I get to the end I'll have a bit extra boning left.Keep in mind the overall size (12mm ≈ 1/2 inch) is the size of the casing, so the boning is a bit smaller. If your project needs boning this size, then this is going to be slightly small and may not work for you.

I saw a tutorial that used boning to keep the sides of a basket sturdy, instead of using different stabilizers. I have used this to add to a couple old baskets and it works great. Pretty sure it would work just fine in women's underlings, as there is a light fabric covering.

This boning is fantastic. I used it to support ballet bodice corsets for a production of The Nutcracker. I love the casing and the boning itself is very strong. It cuts easily with scissors and I like that I can round the ends to make them more comfortable in the bodices.
