Great for finishing or refinishing guitars
Watco spray lacquer works great for finishing or refinishing guitars. I have an expensive compressor and spray gun, but I tend to get better results from the Watco spray in the right conditions. Those conditions include: air temperature over 55 F degrees, humidity below 50%, clean spray nozzle, and preheating the spray can in hot water.

This lacquer sprays beutifully when thinned correctly.
I sprayed this lacquer with a .5mm tip. It had to be thinned to get good atomization, but layed beautifully. I used mostly fast dry, cold weather thinner to speed up the drying, since is a slow dry brushing lacquer. I used 60% lacquer and 40% thinner. Thanks for a great product.

Using Watco Clear Nitro Lacquer on a Guitar
I subscribe to the Kit Guitar Forum and the Acoustic Guitar Construction Forum. Some time back on the Kit forum, we had a discussion of nitro products to use in finishing an Acoustic Guitar. Watco was recommended by someone whose opinion I respect, and I used it for the finish on my last acoustic. It hardens pretty well, and can be sanded and buffed out after about a week. It does take about 5-6 cans to adequately cover the guitar, so that gets a bit pricier compared to using a dedicated sprayer in a spray booth. Because of its volatility, I sprayed outside. Here in the East Texas heat and humidity, products like this can start to blush (which means it starts to film over before it completely "gases off"). All nitro is going to do that. So don't spray it when humidity is above about 60%. For economy, I'd recommend Watco in the brush on form. If you have a spray booth with a non-combustible fan, I'd use that as it will probably be cheaper as well. But that is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. But if you're like me and don't want to deal with cleaning a brush after each coat, the aerosol can is a good way to go. Just put on as heavy a coat as you can without it running or blushing, maybe 2-3 coats daily spread 2 hours apart, and a week or so later you're going to have a nice looking guitar. As far as quality, this gets a 5. I took a point off for total cost for a guitar.

Price and Finish are great
The gloss finish I was envisioning! This is a great product. It has a short time between sprays and has an amazing finish.

Nice Finish
An old standby that my local stores quit carrying. Iโm glad Amazon stocks it at a reasonable price.

Works like lacker is supposed to , recommended by "Sawyer Guitars" owner "Catch" .
Used it on a Taylor guitar that the finish got ruined on has 3 coats now giving it 10 days to cure before buffing out . A friend of mine "Catch" owns "Sawyer Guitars" company and is doing the work for me and Watco is the brand he recommended for my guitar . He has built guitars for many big stars like Billy Gibbons and many more .
