How many years does its sharpness last? Does this knife come with a sharpener?

I can't tell how long the sharpness will last but it's been a while since I got it, and it's still pretty good. It doesn't come with a sharpener just the knife by itself.

Can it cut through sweet potatoes easily? Sweet potatoes are the hardest vegetable I cut regularly and I'm looking for a good knife that can handle it

This is a good low end steel, it's a Chinese copy of 440a making it a solid option for a chef's knife. It should be very easy to sharpen and keep honed, but don't expect it to hold an edge forever as it's still a low grade stainless. If you can sharpen and maintain an edge it should have no issue cutting sweet potatoes.
