Just ok.
This review is specifically for the connector free breakout. But may apply to this product line.I'm an audio engineer. I make and sell specialty cables, preamps, and power supplies and generally do about 2 hours of soldering per day so I'm VERY used to wiring up audio breakouts. These db25 breakouts are just barely good enough. There's not much to them - but the gauge of the wire is in my opinion, too thin. I would say around 28 gauge. I would never choose something this thin. The insulation around the wire is pretty mid-grade, hard to cut super clean mostly because the wire is so small. Hold ups ok against a hot iron. It's nice enough copper. I generally love the planet waves line, but they made these a little too cheap for me to use them in a studio or any high-demand location.

It works great...but...
I love this cable, it is very adaptable (remember this cable is just the core, but you can use it for DB25 to DB25 connections), and you can build any type of cable you want with it using the optional cable ends. TRS to TRS, TRS to XLR, DB25 to TRS, etc. What I don't like about it is when you use it for DB25 to DB25 connection only, the ends are a bit on the thick side, so if you are connecting to gear that has 2 DB25 connections stacked vertically very closely, it will simply not work (you cannot connect it because the DB25 connections are too close together), or it will work but the cable will be angled off a bit. The audio will be fine, just esthetically, it looks weird. If you have to use a 1RU patch bay with DB25s stacked vertically, I would look at using some other cable. But if there is enough space between the 2 DB25 connections (stacked vertically), you should be fine. The awkwardness can be dealt with some cable support tension bars. One equipment where the awkwardness will happen (I noticed this in a recording studio in San Francisco) was the Apogee Symphony I/O with the 16 Analog IN/OUT module installed. The 2 DB25s are stacked a bit too close (due to the size of the module) and one cable flips up or down, depending on which cable you connect first.Other than esthetics, this cable works awesome for everything else. I highly recommend this cable for your pro audio needs, and at this price, you can't go wrong.

Excellent!
Bought these not quite knowing what to expect as far as quality. The connectors are better than on my Mogami cables and hook up securely and easily. Way more easy to hook up than my Mogami snakes. They seem durable and well made and for the price it's a no brainer. For a Mogami it was $165 for one. These were $15.95 each! I'll take these any day of the week no matter what the price is. Highly recommended.

Great system for fast connection and customizing your gear.
I perform live as a soloist/1manBand... I play 2 guitars, keys, tracks on an Ipod so I have a lot of stuff to hook up. I was into the idea of snake cables to it all and made my last one with the little brass connections that are solder less. Those are ok, but the connection does go bad and you have to keep trimming the cable back to make the new connection. I still found that I had to plug into all of the pedals and wore those connectors out. I also run all in stereo for a great sound from processors and this time I used small xlr type cable that shares the ground and has 2 inside signal cables for interconnection. The Planet Waves does have 8 cables, each with a ground/shield and 2 signal wires, set up for XLR or stereo...this totals 24 of the 25 available in the D connector end. This time I took the pedal board that has my track volume, guitar effects, vocal harmonizer and keyboard sustain and attached the open wire end of this Planet Waves system to that end. I glued the D connector to the end of the broad where it will meet the cable with two D connectors. This comes in two lengths 5 and 10 feet I believe. Then the other end where my rack is has another D connector tie wrapped and the open wire end has 1/4 inch and xlr connectors I soldered custom as I did for the pedal board end. I simply set every thing down, open my rack cases where the 5 foot cable stays connected and plug it into the pedal board. I ran a separate extension cable that is hardwired in the rack and goes down to the pedal board where I plug in a male ac cord that supplies power to the 2 ac adapters. You want to keep AC running separate to the signals or else you can get hum..but I did tape the run down to the pedal board next to the planet waves cord and it seems that the shielding they use does its job as I did not get any AC hum induced. Now the big advantage besides a heap of time saved unwrapping and wrapping connectors, cables etc. is that these plugs are plugged in once at the pedal board and all of the connections are saved the wear of constantly being plugged in and unplugged... and the Planet waves D connectors have a much longer life of this type of wear...and when they go bad..I have 2 spare lines in the Planet Waves cable unused...or I just replace the one cable. I play on the beach a lot and have constant salt mist and often get rained on to boot... I expect this is a durable and fast set up solution especially if you are using it around a studio or dry/clean environment. I am glad that Planet Waves has this system...did not find anything else like it and did not want to try to solder a D connector without a big expensive machine to help... The connectors are very reasonably priced for any experimentation.. If you wire them the same you can have a 2nd back up rack that everything plugs into for different volume gigs or just if a rack goes down. I plan to buy another D with bare ends and a double D and do just that with my old rack.I most always find Amazon has the best price and is hassle free when it comes to returning stuff. PayPal and EBay on the other hand, if you have a problem...well contact is like sending a Carrier Pigeon to the Moon.

Poor quality control.
I received my DB25 snake cable today and one of the connectors did not fit on to my interface. When I examined it you could see it was clearly misshapen. It did not appear to be bent, but a manufacturing defect. Unfortunately I had a project that had to get to a client in a couple of days and did not have time to have another one shipped so I bent it with some pliers to get it to fit, but it should not have left the factory to begin with. It appears that Planet Waves, or their manufacturer, have poor quality control.

Great modular snake
works very will. although i thought it had a male connection DB25. but after it arrived i realized it was part of a modular system. BUT, even buying a DB25 cable to plug in to this end it was still cheaper than buying another option.

Super excelente cable!!!
