A must have book for RF and microwave guys/gals
An extremely well-done "how-to" book. Covers the subject thoroughly. If you are working in or contemplating working in RF or microwave, my opinion is that this book is a must have.

One of the Best Publications in Engineering I've Ever Read
Absolutely amazing, beautiful, and well written book. If you want to learn about vector network analyzers & calibration theory & VNA measurement practices in the best way possible, GET THIS BOOK. The quality of the print is more phenomenal than any other textbook I have read in my life. The paper quality is great, and all the diagrams and photos are in color. Dr. Joel's book from keysight is also a great book, but do yourself a favor and get this book first! This is worth every penny and I find myself going back to it all the time.

For Every VNA User
The annoying thing about this book is buying it, which seems to only be possible directly from Germany on the Rohde&Schwarz website at the time of this writing. Even then it's not a confidence-filled experience, as the ordering process/card is not too legitimate looking for such a large company. Anyway I did it anyway and the book showed up some time later in Canada. The book itself is excellent. It contains a good fusion of both theory behind how a VNA works, but also extensively contains hands-on measurement examples; at least half the book is just "how would you measure this with a VNA". The examples all use R&S VNAs (not surprisingly), but they don't try to exclude other VNAs by using special modes of their VNAs. So it is useful with other equipment, even if you don't have an R&S VNA.High-quality paper with colour on almost every page makes this book very good value, especially compared to many other textbooks. Especially when you consider there is very few books covering this material. Some of the material can be gleaned from app-notes from various vendors, but it is extremely useful having it all in one location. In addition it maintains consistency of notation throughout, again making it much easier to read through compared to trying to search several different app-notes.

Good info on the theory of VNA calibration
Lots of colored diagrams as an aid to understanding the material. Good info on the theory of VNA calibration. (The Vector Network Analyzer is the most complex instrument that you will ever use in high tech.)
