No Longer Trapped In The Closet: The Asante McGee Story

Information left out
This book was a good read. I read it within maybe two hours. It seems as though a lot of other information was left out of this book. if the other ladies contracted herpes..why didn't you? Your book doesn't really mention the grave details of abuse though I believe you were abused by Him. Seems like there is more to your story....I don't know: being a woman with children..You know this was not the man for you star or not..i understand though...we all make mistakes..

Like reading a diary....
It felt more like reading a diary than a published book. I’ve read a lot of autobiographies and I was not impressed with this one. It’s a good read if you’re only looking for some quick details that would be found in a magazine article but this book didn’t seem to tell a complete story. You only need a 3rd grade reading level to read this book, the grammar was horrible. I think she is very brave for telling her story and I don’t want to seem like I’m attacking her as a person. I just wish she would have done it the right way by hiring a professional writer and editor to help her tell her story.

No Longer Trapped
I applaud the author for telling her story, overcoming her abuse and getting her life back together. This is a very short story. I didn’t realize the page count when I purchased the book. It was more like reading a dairy. There isn’t a story line and it jumps from one thing to another. I think if the author rewrote it and was more in detail it would be a much better book and would read as a memoir. On the other hand, it still may be hard for her to go into detail of the events. To the author- glad you are living your life as you want too. Enjoy and I wish you the best.

Good try! I bought this to support her but it is not particularly insightful or detailed.
Not an insightful book. The story was shallow nondescript and didn’t provide the level of detail about the environment (not the sexual stuff) about r Kelley, the house, the buses, other people, herself etc. that I believe would have allowed the reader to create a better mental representation of her experience that is needed when reading a book. A book is meant to offer the subtle information that a documentary doesn’t have time to discuss...ex the color of the curtains, the type of furniture, the smells in the house, the food....would have been a more interesting read to really get into the world from her perspective.

Too many details left out.
First of all, several typos throughout the book. Find a better editor to proof read before publishing. Too many inconsistent stories. Not enough detail at all to support your claim. You had so many opportunities to not be a part of that situation. Who the hell sits in a sprinter, FOR 8 HOURS, and never used a bathroom??? After a half hour (and that is being generous)I would have walked my butt away from there. Seems more like a groupie situation to me. You were an adult woman and you wanted to be a part of whatever he was doing. You should have gone home to your kids. I read the book with an open mind and you do not take accountability for your actions at all.

Too short
Very short book not worth $9.99. She needed to give more information and make it longer. Finished in a half hour

She survived!
Glad she lived to tell her story. Did watch the documentary but it didn’t tell about her childhood. So readers learned about the abuse she suffered as a child & early adult.

Waste of money
I can't comprehend how shallow this story reads. It's like a short bunch of memories, thrown together with no real attempt to convey feelings or emotion. A wasted oppertunity to put across the victims voice

Found out about this book through a documentary on Netflix and decided to buy it, it was an interesting read and learned a lot! Left the book in a coffee shop in Dublin as I know I won't read it again!

Book looked like it had been read
It shouldn't even be a book! Every single thing in it, she stated in her interviews. It is more like a pamphlet in size, certainly not worth the money...
