The Original Bech Magnetic Violin and Viola Mute

WORKS GREAT. I am replacing an old one after ummm maybe 20 years or more. The old one can move to my violin and the new one goes on the spruced up viola. This is my favorite mute. I am mainly needing a mute for orchestra or musical show gigs, so the subtleties of the tone quality and sound are least important. I want my mute to be there when I need it, to be quick and easy to move on and off, and to be virtually undiscernable when not in use. Works GREAT for me.

I was excited to get this after seeing some of my orchestra mates use it. It seemed convinient and effective. It easy to set up, but it doesn't seem to dampen the sound very much as far as I can tell. Of course there's always the possibility mine is defective - I recall the ones belonging to others as working just fine. But unfortunately it just hasn't worked well for me

I absolutely love this mute. The clip is great, and it fits well on my tailpiece. I only have one fine tuner, but I tested it on my sister's violin (with four fine tuners) and it worked fine. The clip is very sturdy and flexible enough to fit on most tailpieces. I haven't had any buzzing/issues with the mute connected to the clip. I did have trouble fitting the mute onto the bridge at first but haven't really had issues since.The mute did leave a light smudge on my bridge, but not as bad as many of the other performance mutes I've gotten off of Amazon.The mute itself has a better sound and does its job better than the old rubber performance mutes I used.Works pretty great for both viola and violin.Great purchase, best mute I've ever bought.

I got one of these since I got tired of losing my mutes randomly during rehearsal. In my opinion, the magnet system is great, my only complaint would be that at times you really have to switch from it quickly and the mute itself sometimes doesn't come in or out so easily.

Mutes enough to be effective for home or group play and actually improves the sound of my cheap student violin. Easy to use and visually inconspicuous.

I'm a viola performance major with a large 16.5" viola, and I needed a mute that wouldn't constantly rattle when I performed. I got this mute last week and have since had it on my viola 24/7, in an orchestra performance of Beethoven and Stravinsky, chamber music and individual practice and it not only sounds great when on, it doesn't rattle at all when off and attached to the tailpiece.This is easily one of the best instrument accessories I've ever purchased.

Took me a second to place it on my bridge, left a dark smudge on it but still works as a mute
