Collects issues #43-49, restarted Volume count at #1.
Love Harley Quinn! This volume collects issues #43-49. Don't let the "Volume 1" title fool you, ( I expected it to be Volume 7) but for some reason DC decided to restart the numbering with this collection.

Fun Moments, but a Rocky Start
âHarley Quinn, vol. 1: Harley vs. Apokolipsâ collects issues 43-49 of âHarley Quinnâ written by Sam Humphries and Christopher Sebela with art by John Timms, Alisson Borges, Mirka Andolfo, and Max Raynor, colors by Gabe Eltaeb, and letters by Dave Sharpe. This is Humphriesâ first volume as head writer on the âHarley Quinnâ after Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Frank Tieri shepherded the series through the New 52, DC Rebirth, and DC Universe, ensuring a level of continuity amid the shakeups occurring throughout the DC titles.Humphries begins with Quinn taking a break from her regular life, only for Granny Goodness to recruit her for the Female Furies on Apokolips. Initially, Harley embraces the opportunity for a break on a world with no rules, but her conscience gets the best of her when she realizes that Granny Goodness is developing a superweapon, leading Harley to rebel and return to Earth. There, she finds that a gentrifying developer seeks to demolish her building, threatening to kick her, Coach, Big Tony, Goat Boy, and Queenie to the curb along with all of Harleyâs pets. She takes on a bounty hunter job to kill Lord Death Man in order to pay the bills, but quickly finds that the job is harder than she thought as heâs seemingly unkillable. Just as things look safe, it appears that Harley may be putting the DC Universe in danger. This volume presents issues 45-49 first and concludes with issues 43 and 44 even those the latter two issues take place before Harleyâs trip to Apokolips. In those two issues, writer Christopher Sebela portrays Harley investigating a robbery at her favorite bodega only to encounter Professor Pyg, whoâs working to create an army of dollotrons in New York City, and the Reaper, who has a cult that view themselves as extensions of him in order to purify the city. The story is full of the frenetic action one expects of a Harley Quinn story while the inclusion of the Reaper, who first appeared in âBatman: Year Two,â makes a nice addition.Overall, this first volume of stories from Humphries has entertaining moments for Harley Quinn fans and the idea of how sheâd react to Apokolips makes for some entertainment. That said, it seems to lack some of the consistency of earlier volumes, but certain allowances must be made for a title in transition.

It was better than expected.
I came into this book not expecting much. It has some rough patches but it made me a fan of the series by the end of the book. Not for everyone but it was an ok read.

After hell and Gotham
Harley survived through a lot of pain and madness... so why not Apokolips? Well Darkseid wasn't there, it could have been nice to see them... but I enjoyed it anyway.
