I often experiment with new baking and cooking ingredients. Quite often an experimental new ingredient is disappointing. This Dark Muscovado Sugar is a WINNER. It is flavorful, in a unique way. When used judiciously it has an intriguing hint of earthy molasses. I tried it first in hot chocolate. It added to the flavor by contributing a rich, organic flavor. Next, I used it in ployes (Acadian pancakes). It added a delightful hint of the old world. I can't wait to use it in future cookies and cakes. I've been careful to add it in small amounts because the flavor is strong. Weaker (and less pure) versions would be dark brown, and then light brown, sugar. That said, those sugars add molasses back in. This sugar retains it's almost non-processed ingredients naturally. I've read that some shipments arrived rock-hard. Mine arrived moist and easily spooned out. Perfect! I really appreciate this natural, uniquely tasty, sugar that measures, mixes-in, and dissolves readily. I'm old, so I've tasted all the usual desserts a thousand times. I like them, but I’m seeking new twists on my old favorites. My next steps are cinnamon puffs, cinnamon buns, fried dough, cake frostings, pancakes, date cookies, sugar cookies, etc. If you're yearning for an intriguing new twist, give this a try. I recommend it.

Whoo, its strong

As someone that loves to bake I can’t always find the ingredients I need. And some might say this is just brown sugar, but it taste different than regular brown sugar. I have also used this with my oatmeal and sweet potatoes, will buy again.

This is the best tasting sugar I have had the pleasure of experiencing. It's a very healthy choice too, being mineral rich. People say it has a molasses taste. Yes, but not like a black strap. It is the subtle taste of fresh unrefined natural molasses. Since heating your 'local honey' destroys its unique, subtle micro-nutrients this sugar is a good replacement, if you are inclined to use honey in cooking recipes or for heated beverages. Be cautious. We must be careful to not overindulge in sugar consumption so, self-control is wise.

I've been enjoying it, I use alittle in my coffee, I havent baked with it as yet. Enjoy it!

I bought this Dark Muscovado expecting a truly natural, minimally processed sugar, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations. In my opinion, the taste is very similar to regular crystal sugar mixed with molasses, rather than a rich, naturally unrefined cane sugar. The texture and flavor just didn’t feel as authentic as I was hoping for. If you’re looking for a true raw sugar experience, there are other options out there at a similar price point that deliver better quality, like the traditional “panela” or other genuine ground cane sugars. Wasn’t a terrible product, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

I wish it was not so expensive it makes the best syrup for your coffee!

Christmas pudding sugar. Worth the price!

Expensive but worth it. As a treat I made sticky toffee pudding and using real ingredients like this made it fantastic.

Yes, it's just brown sugar, but it tastes more than just sweet. Used for my Christmas brown sugar shortbread this year, which is just flour, butter and brown sugar and it kicked them up to another dimension.

I received a solid block of sugar. Hard as a brick. This can't be used unless you grind it.
