Eve Of Destruction [Blu-ray]

One of the few movies where you DON'T see Gregory Hines dancing up a storm on a staircase, and he proves that he could deftly handle action & adventure roles, as well as Wesley Snipes.In this outing, he portrays a security consultant for our federal government, specializing in thwarting terrorists. But this time, he's not up against any human being; the weapon is a human-appearing female who is actually a walking atomic bomb, capable, when "triggered," of leveling 20 square blocks, 24 hours after being armed.The good news is that she CAN be stopped, but WILL SHE?

For every great thing he did, he did some middle of the road duds, like this and some flat-out garbage, like Color of Justice. It's a very 80's movie and sort of illustrated why Hines worked better playing off of someone, rather than trying to carry a movie himself. You've gotta admire the man. Even when he was in obvious dogs, he still poured everything into it and was often the best thing about any movie he was in. Gone way too soon!

This was a great flick. I love science fiction like this. Great movie. I love Renee in her tight outfit, and you will too. The disc was in good shape and so was the case. So thanks to you have a another great flick, Thanx!!!

Been looking for that movie for a long time based on a faint memory of a single line "I'm very sensitive". I was so glad to finally track it down. Movie plays well, disc is in excellent condition.

I disagree with those who see this film as a "Terminator" rip-off and thus trash it, but if they call it below-par I'll go along with that. "Eve Of Destruction" has positive points, true, but they're simply overwhelmed by major weaknesses.Eve VIII is an android created to resemble her creator down to minute details--including the scientist's memory. However, Eve VIII is a walking weapon that goes into combat mode shortly after being released into the public, which leads to the military calling in their antiterrorist specialist to track the android down. What follows is a path marked by several deaths, shoot-outs, a few hand-to-hands, and even a car chase!"Eve Of Destruction" has a plotline that is clever: without giving it away, let me inform you that Eve VIII's trail has a lot to do with her creator's past. This movie has a sense of humor, too, although you might find the motel room scene to be the sadistic kind. The action scenes are handled well, especially when Eve VIII and Hines' Colonel square off. We musn't forget Renee Soutendijk, a stunning, leggy blonde who does well in her American film debut as the android's creator.Unfortunately this movie suffers from an overabundance of action and a lack of character. Take Colonel Jim, for example, played by Greg Hines. By the end we still don't know anything about his past, his family, things that make us care about film characters. He doesn't exactly play the military specialist in a very sympathetic way, either (watch how he deals with Doctor Eve!). She, on the other hand, does get scenes that show you some humanity, such as her reviewing her little boy's anatomy lesson, which is funny. The flashbacks to her childhood also make us feel for her. More of these and less of the shoot-outs would have made "Eve Of Destruction" a solid film. As is, it's a mildly entertaining action film.

A good low budget sci fi movie. It doesn't take massive millions to make a good film.This is one of those that comes at you surprisingly. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.There aren't too many films that I watch more than once. This is one.Kudos to the seller for having it.

This is an oldie but definitely a goodie.Gregory Hines is absolutely fab.If you like robot/cyborg type films with a difference then this is definitely for you.
