Hercules GS455B Universal Guitar Stand

I had reservations about this stand as I planned to use it with a 5 string banjo with a fairly skinny neck, but I took a chance. Turns out the stand grip the neck at the headstock and holds the banjo quite well. You just have to put the neck all the way to the back of the V shaped holding mechanism. It's a very sturdy stand, and the banjo, which is fairly heavy, is very stable on stage. Plus, the stand design works well in that the instrument cable for the banjo (which is electrified) does not get tangled, which used to happen with other stands I tried.

I'm on my second Hercules GS455B guitar stand received as a gift. I'll be returning this unit also.The first one came broken where the plastic yoke slips into the black metal tubing that forms the stand. I got a replacement, and upon close examination, found cracks in the same area. The self closing mechanism works great, except for the chance of getting one that snaps under the weight of an instrument and finding your expensive guitar/banjo on the floor in pieces. Hercules needs to modify the plastic yoke to make it stronger and eliminate a potentially heartbreaking experience.

Sturdy, light, love it! And with a bit of black photo tape, the giant logo quickly disappears.

This is one nice guitar stand. It has like an automatic head, in a way, that when you set your guitar down in it the head will automatically grab the upper neck area & hold it. The stand itself is sturdy enough to hold a Gibson Les Paul LTD. or a Fender Electric Acoustic or an Ibanez bass. This was for my son & he has all 3 that he will swap out from guitar case to the stand whichever he is playing with at that time.

I have two other Hercules stands for guitars and bought this "universal" model for a five string banjo. It works so well I have since ordered another for my brother, a plectrum banjo enthusiast. I feel confident in this stand's stability and really like the easy access to the axe.

this product broke on the top plastic area two times!! i had another sent to me..im extremely disappointed ..my instrument got damaged because of this poor made product! they used to have good ones, now they made it cheap and easily falls apart!! if you care about your instrument, don't buy this product. I'm extremely disappointed in hercules for coming out with this shoddy made stand!!!!

The thing I can't understand about this stand is why they built it so well everywhere except for where the metal stand meets the plastic hanger. I used it twice and the head broke off in my hand just before I hung my bass on it. Thankfully Amazon has great customer service and the manufacturer provides a lifetime warranty so getting it replaced was no problem. I'd definitely recommend getting the GS415B though. It seems to be built much better.

My son is very pleased with this guitar stand. No worries that his new guitar might end up on the floor! The stand holds the guitar very securely. I would purchase again.
