Night-Night, Spot

I bought this book for my 14 month old son because he LOVES his "Where is Spot" book, specifically because of the hidden flaps. He asks us to read this to him all the time, and he reads it to himself all of the time. But unfortunately, this book that I just bought, "Night-Night Spot" is not a flap book. I wasn't aware it might come in different formats, so I probably should have checked that before I placed the order. Just wanted to give a heads-up in case anybody else is looking for another flap book. I'll have to put this one on a shelf for later as there's too much text and no flaps to interest my son at his age.

Longer than most Spot books, which is a good thing, in my opinion, as my daughter (3 years old) is ready for longer stories. One thing I didn't like about the story, though, is that Spot doesn't think he's sleep and gets out of bed (not really what you want your child to learn when they are left in their room for a nap, etc). Otherwise, lovely characters as always, and Spot does end up going to sleep of course in the end. Daughter loves Spot and asks for me to read this regularly before bed.

Our kids love the Spot series but this book was a disappointment. A little too long for bedtime so the kids have trouble staying engaged. Also, the story line has Spot saying he's not tired in order to delay bedtime and then playing in his room and causing a mess after his parents put him to bed so I'm not sure I like the message it sends. Note this is not a pop-up book like most of the others.

Spot is always a classic. This version is a very soft thin paperback so ideal for slipping in your bag but doesn’t withstand much enthusiastic page turning from a toddler. The message that it is ok to get up again and play dress up after Mummy and Daddy have put you to bed isn’t quite what I was after but all in all, a nice story and well illustrated

I love spot and wanted some more books to read to our little ones. However I would recommend getting the other stories available in hard-back version unless you want something light for on-the-go. This is quite a thin and flimsy paper back despite the lovely pictures and story line...Spot isn't sleepy enough to go to sleep and despite putting away his toys and having a nice warm bath and a story he still can't sleep...find out what he gets up to before he falls asleep.

Not clear that this is an American paperback with Mom instead of Mum!

Grandson George adores this book, which is a lovely addition to his a Spot books collection. He identifies lots of images he recognises, especially the light by the bed and teddy tucked up with Spot. The words and pictures are just right for a toddler
