Good value - worked as hoped for
Bought 2 of these as use for rotating offsite backups of select content from a NAS. They have worked without a hitch and can get sustained 240+MBS backup speed (when backing up very large files). Formatted them NTSF via WIndows 10, not using the 'quick format' option - 14 hours! They then worked faster with my NAS's USB3 port. Also, verified that both are under MY warranty (they had not been previously purchased or resold).

It's a SATA Drive with lots of space, but slow transfer speed.
In the age of solid states and M2 drives, it's easy to forget how slow SATA drives are. I got this because my computer had space for one, and I thought I could use it for storage of old projects and files I don't access much. It works well in that regard, but writing to it takes longer than I would like. That isn't a fault of the hard drive itself but of the technology of its time, so I'm not holding that against the product.I will say, that the hard drive is a bit noisy when it is in use, it is the loudest component in my entire new system now. Again, SATA Drive with moving parts, so it should be expected, so I'm not holding it against the product for being what it is.

It appears to be a great product.
I purchased 12 of these units to go in a Synology array. I have used Seagate NAS drives into other arrays that are similar to this one. I reviewed the specifications very carefully, as these drives were less costly than the other smaller drives that are used previously. I am pleased to report these drives when in the array and booted right up with no errors. They have been in use for approximately a month now and they appear to perform flawlessly. I would definitely recommend these drives for your NAS operations

Great performance, although noisy with a whine
Fantastic performance, 10.9TB capacity (expected with base 10 to base 2 conversion). The only issue is an extremely high pitched whine. I have a high sensitivity to high pitched noises and can usually hear things others can't. I can notice this from 10 feet away, but only when I'm specifically listening for it. Not a deal breaker for me since the performance and capacity are so good. This is why I'm deducting a star.I would recommend unless you have a sensitivity to high pitched noises. Even then, this may be something you would also hear on other 7200 rpm drive (this is my first).Solid drive.

died in 8 months of light usage a very disappointing 1st experience with seagate.
got this on sale in august for a pretty good price for use in my desktop pc that is mainly used for gaming and hoarding anime. i don't leave it on 24/7 nor do i run any servers or anything. the drive was not being used up to what it is classed for so i thought it would last along time andi enjoyed it for awhile when i received it. it could be a little noisy but didnt bother me, had alot of space and pretty decent speeds was looking forward to having a long run with it and filling it up decently some day. however, about 8 months later, suddenly out of no where and for no reason at all my drive started to rapidly lose all of its sectors and throw transfer errors. so i opened up HD Sentinel pro to see just how bad it was and it was in critical condition with and estimated remaining lifetime of 3 days. i removed the drive right away before it completely died as there was nothing important on there to backup. i had only got to put ~50gb worth of stuff on the drive in that 8 months so this was unexpected and a extremely disappointing first time experience with seagate and i don't think i will buy another seagate again...i am in the process of RMAing it, but i won't be able to trust anything that isn't backed up already on the replacement due to what happened but i hope that i have better luck with the next one.

Working perfectly in my Synology NAS DS920+
I wanted some "larger" hard drives for my NAS and these were a very good (renewed) price. They have been in my Synology NAS working 24/7 for over four months now. They're comparable in speed to the Seagate Iron Wolf drives that I had before, but much larger. I'm thinking about buying a couple more for my Synology DS420+.

Exos class has been great but always check the serial number
So far the Exos Enterprise class drives have been flawless. Got four of them running in my Plex server and Two on my unraid server with no issues. Do not get the green drives, get these instead.Always check the serial number of any drive purchased on the internet including those fulfilled by Amazon. Hard drives are notorious for being resold as new after years of spinning in racks. Hard drives are not static parts and they have a limited life span, it is unwise to except any used drive as you are operating on borrowed time.

These appear to be non-warranted OEM drives
I can’t comment about the capabilities of the specific drive I received because I immediately returned it, unopened. This particular seller, among others on Amazon, appears to be selling OEM drives. In terms of their hardware specifications, quality, and longevity they are probably indistinguishable from their retail counterparts. However, part of the motivation for purchasing a high-end enterprise drive such as this is the 5-year warranty offered by Seagate. OEM drives do not come with such a warranty and a simple check of the serial number of the drive I received indicated it was such a drive.I do actually recommend this product, and in fact have had 6 of these drives running well in a NAS for the past 9 months or so, but I absolutely cannot recommend paying the same amount of money for units that do not come with the warranty. I got my fully-warranted drives from Newegg, and would recommend that to you as well.If you want to take the risk of obtaining an OEM drive, or don’t care about the warranty, I suppose you could purchase from here.
