Cam Jansen and the Mystery of the Stolen Diamonds

Contains spoilers (if you care): Two kids watching baby while mom shops at mall. Mall alarm goes off due to diamond robbery. Mom is a no show, and the kids decide to leave the mall to follow the robbers, taking the baby with them... alone... to an abandoned building. It's pure insanity.The series in general is just okay. Some are better than others, and there's often a smattering of questionable choices (and they're always kinda mean to this one kid who tells dumb jokes) but this one has been the most cray-cray so far. Despite its pitfalls, definitely exciting to young readers.

we like cam jansen in general but this story is ridiculous. calling the kids heroes for taking their baby brother without an adult to follow an armed robber.. ridiculous

Cute book. Great reading for a 3rd/4th grader. Short for a chapter book and would make for a great first chapter book though it does have a robber pointing a gun at a store owner so some discression might be advised if your child is an excelled reader but not ready for that content as my child was in 1/2nd grade.

This might be the first chapter book my 6 year old first grader has actually finished. I’ve struggled to find books that hold her interest as she is not into the same kind of books her older sister enjoyed at this reading level (Ivy & Bean, Heidi Heckelbeck, Stella Batts). So happy to have discovered this series which she describes as “exciting”.

I read this series as a kid 25 years ago and LOVED them. So now that my son is reading "chapter books" I decided to share my love with him. It didn't let me down. He read this one and it got him away from his tablet! Score for the parents!

easy to read for a 9 year old, good story

Short "detective" story for kids starting out with reading chapter books. Nicely spaced and sized writing, my daughter enjoyed the story, we'll probably buy others in the series.
