GenTent Open Frame Running Cover - Universal Adapter Kit Generator Tent (Beige, Original - Extreme)

I purchased this GenTent open frame generator tent to protect my generator during rain and bad weather, and it has exceeded my expectations. The build quality is solid, and the materials feel durable and well made. Setup was straightforward and didn’t take long, even the first time. The tent provides excellent coverage while still allowing proper airflow, which is critical for safe generator operation. It does a great job keeping rain off the generator without trapping heat. I’ve already used it during wet conditions, and it performed exactly as advertised. I also appreciate that it’s compact when stored and easy to transport. The design feels well thought out, and it fits securely without shifting. Overall, this is a reliable and practical solution for anyone who needs to run a generator outdoors in less-than-ideal weather. Highly recommended for safety, peace of mind, and overall quality.

One great piece of accessory to my Westinghouse portable generator. I added the skirt extension and it keeps my generator dry in any rain storm. It takes about 5 minutes to install after I initially set it up which is really easy.

These tents come in two sizes, regular and XL. This review is for the regular size. According to the listings, regular size is for generators with perimeters ranging from 76” to 104”, while XL size is for generators with perimeters ranging from 105” to 128”. The perimeter of my Westinghouse WGen11500TFc falls right between these, being closer to the 105”. As you can see in the pictures, the regular tent is too small. The apron sits too high and does not cover the battery and wiring in the lower part of generator’s front. The tent also does not cover the sides of the generator and does not provide any “eaves” area to protect the sides from rain in even the slightest breeze. In fact, the tent’s sides sit tight on the top part of the frame. I ended up returning this tent and will use the XL variety. I still need to install adapters because without them, the XL sits too loosely. When I work it all out, I will post the review for the XL listing. Otherwise, these tents are great. I used one in my previous house with a smaller generator and was happy with it. Sold it with the generator and the house. I was uncertain about the rating. On the one hand, the tent is great and honestly earns all stars. On the other hand, this tent does not really fit my generator. Looking at the listings I would choose the XL variant for the WGen11500TFc. But after ordering it, I received an e-mail asking for my generator model. It seemed a bit too late, but I answered, and was advised to go with the regular size. This was the reason I got this size even though initially I did not intend to. I lost nothing but time thanks to Amazon free returns, but all this trouble is the reason for at least one star off.

Easy installation, product videos were helpful since I had to use an adapter due to an exhaust mount. The quality appears well made.

I was really hoping for this GenTent to be a great product however they skimped on brittle plastic corner brackets, of which requires 4 screws per bracket. They only send you 8 total instead of 16. The tent itself is pretty darn good except they skimped out on cheap cheesy elastic straps(like cheap fitted bed sheets have)that go over the cheap brittle plastic corner brackets. The UV rays will destroy the elastic in no time. Hurricane proof??? No way the brackets and straps will hold up. You get a good hail stone hit a corner bracket and it’s toast! For the price of these things one would expect better quality items. Why oh why GenTent? Is that the reason you include a replacement parts flyer? To market spare cheap poorly designed replacement parts? Do better GenTent!!!!!

Customer service was great by phone in helping to determine best size for my DuoMax (Amazon dimensions for DuoMax XP13000HX generator are misleading as the specifications are shipping size, not generator size. You should measure your generator to determine which GenTent you need). GenTent assembly instructions and videos are great and even addressed specific instructions for my DuoMax. The design of the tent leaves room on top of generator for storage of my generator accessories (when generator is not in use). I purchased the optional clear vinyl apron for my GTOPFUAEBK Extreme Cover. I used the included black apron cover to wrap futher around the tent , being careful not to get it close to the exhaust, as specified in the installation instructions. The tent and mounting accessories appear to be well made and should be durable. I highly recommend!

I was able to call GenTent directly to get advice as to which cover would best meet my needs. They gave me great input to help in my choice. Amazon shipped the product quickly to me. Everything that needed to be in the box was in there. Installation videos were very helpful. Looking forward to using this cover with my generator.

Had to run the generator during a freezing rain storm that knocked out the power for a few days. The gen tent kept my generator dry and happy so I could run my sump pump and prevent a flooded basement. Easy to assemble and takes less than a minute to install when needed! Totally recommend and also but the carrying case so you don’t lose any parts!

A MUST HAVE item for your generator. Well designed and executed product to protect your generator from winter like we have in Canada !

Simple set-up. Pricey,see through skirt should be included and not be an extra option.

This works so well in keeping the elements off and away from the generator when the weather is wet, and windy..It should prolong the life and appearance of the generator for many years, where it is not exposed to the outside elements.. Goes on easy, and looks really nice once installed.
