wow great buy
if you are into historical facts on the medieval period and especially the Plantagenets this is the DVD for you. Very graphically explained easy to follow. very good study guise on this period and the times leading up to the war of the roses. I have watched this DVD several times. Find it really interesting, understanding of the politics, events and the effects that give us England's parliament of today. Great Buy! would highly recommend.

Very interesting to me
I am a descendant of the Plantagenets. Their blood flows through my veins, so I decided to learn more. What a bunch of awful people. I'm so much more proud of my ancestors who fought in the American Revolution. BUT, this is a very interesting documentary. I would definitely recommend it. It makes me so grateful to be an American.

Definitely Worth Watching!
I thought this series provided some excellent background on the Plantagenets, a family that ruled England for more than 300 years. The narrator certainly seems to know his stuff, and he is very good at keeping the audience's attention (at least in my experience).

Very Well Done But Not For Children!
Very well done and interesting. If you are squeamish please be advised...some of these historical figures and situations are extremely violent and disturbing. Not for children. History can be really hard to take. The information is great and well presented. I continue to watch the series as it's full of accurate historical material and is visually relevant.

Brought the Plantagenets to life
It was fun to watch and truly held my attention. Of course a program like this is just a start, and merely an overview. I am a beginner, so I cannot vouch for the total accuracy or inaccuracy, but now I am excited to learn more!

Fortunately, for us overseas
Unfortunately the People in the U.S.A have no idea of just what happened back then, as your history books are bent towards the problems in their country, jut as we don't get much on American history in our schools. Fortunately, for us overseas, Ken Burns has done some fantastic films on American History, from the Wars between the North and the South to modern day history.

A very enjoyable program.
Very enjoyable. I have nothing major to add except to note how much my wife and I enjoyed this program. The photography was excellent. The narration was clear with a good balance of action and exposition. I cannot vouch for the accuracy or completeness as my knowledge of English History is not profound.

Watchable but not gripping
This film falls halfway between total reconstruction of the period, as in The Tudors or Wolf Hall, and the kind of walking- talking discussion of history at which Michael Wood and Simon Schama excel. The result is rather unsatisfactory. The sets are minimal and the actors have little to do except say a few famous lines, often in Norman French. The presenter walks about castles and streets but seldom gets around to telling us precisely why he is on that specific street, or walking the battlements of a particular castle. Some of the more interesting aspects of each reign get very short shift, such as Becket's opposition to King Henry II and his assassination by the king's agents, or Magna Carta. Nevertheless, it's watchable and there are things to be learned about this family and its complex and bloody history.

This was a great documentary series
This was a great documentary series. Very well put together. I only wish the creators would have had a bit more information on some of the kings. King Richard was passed by completely.
