We have used these types of shin guards for years. Picked this specific one for the color difference. They came just one color blue instead of the two colors. Not a big deal but my kid picked them out because they were different from his brother. Not worth sending back because he needs them.

These are too big for a 5 year old. The stirrups for the feet are too big. They would not stay in place when pulling the socks up over the guards. The ankles are not protected at all. There is not enough material for ankle support.The guards were perfect. The velcro stayed in place and did the job. I'm going to cut the stirrups off and just use the guards.

I saw from some of the other reviews that the straps on some of these have broken or ripped, but so far our pair is holding up just fine. The choice of colors is fun - we wanted to match my daughter's soccer uniform. Maybe size up if you're not sure which size to get. The large size would work well for teenagers.

My son used these 4 or 5 times and the straps fell off. I sewed them back on so he could finish his season but they certainly are not long lasting. Will need to be replaced before next season.

They do slide down but my kids have skinny legs
