ABUS 70IB/45 KD Solid Brass Weatherproof Padlock Keyed Different with Stainless Steel Shackle, Blue

I'm by no means am an expert in locks, but recently I've had 3 different locks on my shed. The first lock was there when we moved in and although it was weather proofed I accidentally left it unlocked one day when it rained and ruined the lock. The second lock (Master brand) said it was good for outdoor use, but didn't have any weather proofing. I questioned whether I should buy it, and I went against my better judgement. Within 6 months the lock was breaking down.This lock seems extremely well built. Granted I haven't used it for long enough to write a truly thorough review, but the initial movement and internal mechanisms upon inserting the key are extremely smooth. It's the smoothest lock I've ever had. The weather proofing seems pretty good, especially the cover for the keyhole. I have high hopes and will update this review when the winter season is over. Our temperatures will be a good test for any lock (the lowest temp. in our area last year was -11° F)

If it is possible to fall in love with a padlock, this is the one that will steal your heart (but keep others from stealing your stuff😀). After moving to a coastal community, we needed padlocks to secure the gates to the backyard fence so the dog wouldn’t accidentally get out. I tried two different locks by a very well-known manufacturer- they had covered keyholes and were supposedly rated best for outdoor/weather exposure. Well, within a week both the shackles and keyholes were rusty and corroded making the locks extremely difficult to open and close. Replaced the original set with another model, same problem. Finally ordered the ABUS 70/45 all weather padlocks after reading some of the reviews. I put them on the gates and after 4 months of winter weather exposure including blizzard conditions, 97mph winds, and a series of nor’easters, they still look and act like brand new locks! Not one speck of rust or discoloration. Not to mention they were significantly less expensive than the previous ones. I couldn’t be happier with these locks, and if I have any future padlock needs, these are the ones I will buy.

I went through a number of the masterlock outdoor locks and they all kept getting "old" really fast. They claim to be outdoor, but after a few months on my shed, they start to get difficult to open and require WD40 often to keep working. I bought one of these over 15 years ago, and it still works, they are good locks for outside, I just bought another one for another shed, and looks and feels the same as the other. I expect this one to last as well.

BEST WATERPROOF LOCK EVER! 1YR LATER STILL HOLDING UP.I live in SE Alaska where it rains more than in Seattle. I have gone through more locks than I care to disclose, cheap ones, expensive ones, stainless, water proof etc. All of which failed and rusted up over time, every time.UNTIL NOW:bought in June of 2017 coming up on 1yr and this lock looks brand new. Its used outdoors entirely to lock my driveway gate.. rain, ice, snow, sun, wind, fallen branches and used frequently a few times a week or more.ALWAYS WORKS, LOOKS BRAND NEW, NO RUST, NO JAMSIF IT WORKS HERE IT WILL WORK ANYWHERE!I am now going to buy 3 more for my 12ft trailer, I can't say enough good things about this lock and I have just about tried them all.

I've had this padlock on an outdoor shed for about four years in all weather and it still looks and works fine. However, I recently lost a key to it and discovered that none of the big box stores (Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.) carry Abus blanks or any blanks that would work and neither did the local locksmith shops.After some research I found a place in NC that stocks them: Lockitt dot com. It's Abus blank number 64Ti/40 701B. Two blanks via USPS cost about $7.Then I discovered that Home Depot and Lowe's no longer have a keycutting machine, only a computerized gizmo that can only cut keys for which they have the blanks. A local real locksmith cut both of them for $6.

This is a good lock. The seals are tight to guard against corrosion, and operation is smooth even after being outside for weeks. I will be buying one more for another outdoor gate.I almost took off a star because the pictured lock is blue, and I received a yellow one. However, honestly, I just couldn't do it. After all, I didn't buy it for the color, I bought it for the performance. That being said, it was an oversight worth mentioning. However, to repeat: it has been so reliable that I can't knock it.Buy this and you will be happy you did.

I bought this key to be used to secure a large dumpster. I need keys for tenants and thought I would be able to make extra keys. We are having a terrible time getting keys made. Lock smith, and the major chain stores can not make this key. It apparently is a 3 notch key that is not common and they don't have the key to be able to make us a copy. We have been contacting the company and so far they are unable to make us extra keys also. BUT the lock is beautiful and I do believe it will work and be compatible for the weather here but I have to have more keys to be able to use it.

I live in a tropical island which means it is HUMID EVERY DAY. All the locks I was buying for my outside gate did not make it to more than 2 months without getting rusty. Even good ones that I spend almost $25 on. They are heavy duty but they get so rusty in the keyhole that it's just impossible to get the key in. So, I bought this lock. It's small but it's sturdy and great! We've had a lot of windy and rainy days. I also live next to the beach. And there is no sign of rust! Highly recommend this product.

I got this for my shed. It's exactly what I thought it would be and it looks very sharp. Nice weatherproof design and works very well.

Is this hard to pick for someone who is skilled at picking locks? No. But it's a well-built lock at an affordable price point, with a smooth and solid mechanism. You can feel the difference in quality between this and a masterlock or similar brand. It keeps people out of the freezer they shouldn't be in.

Not impressed.
