These 5.11 tactical shorts are the very best I have ever had. Water/stain resistant. Plenty of pockets and the elastic waist line makes for a comfortable fit. Very well made. Double stitched everywhere. Gusseted. Superior long lasting velcro, never had it fail. I am 6'-1" @ 250lbs and the fit is perfect, leaving me ample room to do all tasks. I am extremely satisfied. Priced right.

Got them March,2018 and wear them all the time; no stitches or seams broke. I shoot a lot of sporting clays for years now, I fill the back pockets up 25 shells a pocket and never had any issues. The little fabric strap above the rear right pocket is a little annoying but love these things. 10/10

To be honest, I truly appreciate the pant version, since I wore them for over 15 years at work and now wear them at my retirement job. I got tired of paying high prices for inferior name brand shorts and low prices for inferior cargo shorts at the big box type stores, I have loved these cargo/tactical shorts. The deep rear pockets are nice. I have them in black, the brown and gray. They have lasted over 4 years. Even my wife was impressed as they held their color and look good with a Tee, camp shirt or flannel. I appreciate the flex waistband, as my weight fluctuates at my age during BBQ seasons and holidays. They are even nicer during Amazon Prime sales events.

UPDATE: years later, these shorts are still on great shape. I wear them all summer and use them on long multi day hikes into the mountains. Simply amazing and allows me to carry a weapon and spare mags. - Military Tested and approved! The cell phone pocket fits an iPhone 6 Plus, and allows the tip to stick out a bit... which is great because when you have headphones plugged in, it doesn't damage the jack! Or you can utilize the in phone speakers while walking! The material is super comfortable, yet durable. Anyone who has utilized 5.11 pants know that they last forever, wash well, and repel stains and damage from the environment. These shorts are 5.11 quality, and are very well engineered. The ripstop technology is the same in my ABU uniform. These seem a little expensive, but are actually a great price considering the premium materials and sewing. Great buy.

I purchased the 5.11 11- inch taclite shorts in dark navy as a bike uniform for work. The shorts are well made and have plenty of pockets that are very deep. The shorts have an elastic waist that make them very comfortable. I purchased a size 36 as that is the size of my waste but I found the thigh area to be a tad tight. So I exchanged them for a 38 and they fit perfect. One awesome thing about the shorts is they repel water. If you spray them with a water bottle the water just falls right off. I am 6'3'' 215 and the shorts come down to just about the middle of my knee cap.

Good fit and look nice on. Hold up well to abuse.

These shorts fit great on me. There are some complaints that they ride too high or they're "hip huggers", but I guess this really depends on your body type. They ride a tad higher than conventional shorts, but these are tactical shorts designed to carry many items including holsters for sidearms and I found this to be a non issue. The quality is superb. They are easy to clean. My favorite features are the reinforced pocket openings for knife clips, the rear slash pockets (which are now my favorite design for a rear pocket. you can even slip a small water bottle in them and it rides more on your side than on your rear end), the front dedicated knife pocket and the front flap pocket. The front flap pocket is a good size to accommodate larger smart phones. I do quite a bit of bird watching so this pocket is really handy. I just tuck the flap inside the pocket and slip my iPhone in. Now I have quick access to my phone to record a sighting, drop it back in and keep going. These are my go to shorts for hiking as well.

I purchased theese shorts in search of a pair of casual cargo shorts in which I could carry all my EDC gear in the summer. The shorts were brilliantly built and the poly-cotton material was fantastic. The pocket layout is very well thought out and you can spread your stuff out as to not make any of the pockets bulge out too much since there are so many of them. The rear wallet pockets are very well thought out and a very smart unique design to 5.11 that allows your wallet to sit a few inches further towards the side of your leg allowing for more comfort when sitting. I personally find no use to the rear strap but it doesn't get in the way nor is it visible with your shirt over it.So why 3 stars?I understand that these need to be loose to allow for good mobility, but I ordered size 32 waist which fit well, although slightly loose around my waist, but with a belt, it's not a problem at all. For some reason, my movement was slightly restricted when lifting my leg, which there is no excuse for as I have many tighter fitting non-tactical shorts with much better mobility for me. As well as the mobility, I also found that there was a bunch of extra material in the rear, popping out and forming what looks like a tent in my lower rear. It seems as though the shorts may not have been properly proportioned to compensate for different waist sizes in their design.I do recommend theese shorts if you don't mind the baggy looks, as the design of the pockets, build quality and material are top notch.If they fix these problems, I will most certainly purchase a pair, as theese are some of the most promising shorts on the market.Note to 5.11, make a covert version of theese shorts like you did with the pants, those fit well, look good and are almost as practical as the regular versions.
