Bodum, Replacement Part Cross Plate for Glass French Press, 3 Cup, Stainless Steel

Our old one was allowing coffee grounds to get in our coffee. It was about 10 yrs old, so I ordered a new screen & our french press now works perfect. The new one fits snug next to the glass decanter & does not allow coffee grounds to slide into our brew.

So when I open the package I saw that it was ridiculously triple wrapped.... And was like.... Ok... What's that about. And then..... I cut it open (because there was no ripping it, with the amount of packing tape on it) ..... WREAKED OF NAG CHAMPA INCENSE..... Had to hold my breath while I rinsed it out with hot hot water. Wtf? I'm mildly sensitive to smells, but someone who is more sensitive would have had an instant migraine opening this. 🤮

I've been using a Bodum coffee press for more than a decade, and I've used my share of their metal mesh replacement filters. What I've noticed in recent years is the price per filter has gone way up and the metal filter is considerably thinner and lighter than they were in the past. Yes, they still work, but my complaint is about the hiked price of each filter. Modern manufacturing processes can make literally thousands of these in a very short time, and at a very low cost per item. They are not complicated to make - they're just a circular punched mesh filter! It seems to me the older, thicker mesh filters lasted longer too.I will continue to buy them, but I won't replace them as often as in the recent past.

The original filter from my Bodum french press was finally starting to fray a bit after 10+ years of near daily use. I didn't want to buy a whole new french press, so I just got this new filter. It's the same original product, and I have no doubt it'll serve me well for another 10+ years.

This fliter is WAY better quality then what was originally came with my French Press!It has a stiffer rim so it is not as smooth plunging it at this time but I am thinking this will become easier as it get used.Much better filtering of my coffee!!!

More important than the plate is the periodic replacement of the mesh screen which does fray along the edges and does leak grinds into the brew. The plate holds up well and can be replaced every other replacement of the screen to ensure a tight screen fit. The plate by inspection and feel can avoid replacement at your discretion.

The replacement filter is disc of wire mesh. It needs to be handled carefully so that it does bend, get folded, lose shape...Here the larger packing box contained the Bodum 21 oz French Press box, the spare glass jar box, and the replacement filter in a plastic pouch, all thrown in together, without any other paper strips or seperation packing material.As a result the filter mesh disc got badly twisted and folded on itself, by the other two heavier and larger boxes.Will observe later in use if it's functionality is affected, when it fits in the filter assembly.Amazon should be careful about the packing of such disparate items together.

I didn’t want to replace my whole French press because the screw part of the cross plate went down the drain. I was pleased that this was the perfect replacement and even better than the one that came with my press.

As a product its great. 7cm in diameter with a 5mm washer reinforced hole in the centre, it fits the 3 cup press which is the one that is 13cm high. Nice snug fit against the glass and, after getting used to the coffee that came through my old deteriorating filter until it final split, it produces a great coffee.For the price, its a very expensive necessity, when combined with the postage approximately half the cost of an entire cafetiere !!Packaging (depending on the merchant you buy from) It could be protected from being folded or damaged by a piece of cardboard in a small envelope and a first class stamp. Instead mine arrived loose inside a soft jiffy bag requiring large letter postage
