Prayers for Children (Little Golden Book)

We are enjoying the different prayers for different parts of the day. Sweet book to share with all ages.

The is such a sweet book of prayers. My boys and I take time to recite one a day for one or two weeks at a time. I’m trying to help them commit some prayers to memory so they have models. The Lords Prayer is included in this book, as well. It’s a great way to start our morning. The illustrations are precious. I can see this being a great baby shower gift!

I had this prayer book as a child, and still remembered by heart some of the prayers in it, and now hope to read it to my great granddaughter. Only one was changed. It used to say: "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take." I guess they thought that was too scary for a child, but it never bothered me when young. Nevertheless, the newer version is great and should not scare any child. The Lord's Prayer does have the King James ending, but the other prayers should be all right for Catholics and Orthodox church members.

Great book for little ones!

This was one of my favorite books when I was a little girl. I've tried to find copies to give to all six of my grandchildren. Alas, this book is hard to find, as are most of the older Little Golden Books. The pictures are soft and endearing, the prayers pertinent to any child to is being taught to believe in God and His wonderful world.

The amazing invitation in Scripture to actually talk to the Father in Heaven through His Son, is something that every child needs to know. The world is often a frightening place to little ones. This lovely little book, so beautifully illustrated, helps us teach little ones about a kind, good, powerful Heavenly Father Who cares and hears our prayers. It also serves to link generations in a communal perspective because the prayers in this wee book were offered up by grandparents and parents of past generations. I am delighted that it is still available! In a world where selfish ambition drives and greed thrives, this little book directs focus to another realm and encourages excellence: God, make my life a little song/That comforteth the sad,/That helpeth others to be strong/ And makes the singer glad.

This beautiful book has been around since 1952. I had it when I was a child and read it to my own children and now the grandchildren. It is timeless with dear and meaningful prayers. I just bought a copy to give to neighbors for their little daughter. You won't be disappointed in it, I assure you.

We didn't make it through the whole book in one go. There's a different prayer on every page, and different children on each page so that holds the kids' interest seeing the illustrations but my 6year old said, 'What are you talking about?' Because the words were words you don't hear often in modern day. But they are great prayers you hear often in church like The Lord's Prayer and bedtime prayers. Nice for kids learning how to pray but you'll have to explain them a bit.

Bought as a gift for my daughter when she started school. We love it. Simple warm prayers for all occassions. The pictures make it interesting for the kids. By repetition, she knows many of the prayers now...

I bought this book for my eldest daughter, and thought it was a beautiful traditional childrens prayer book. Excellent value, and beautifully illustrated. My 2 year old daughter has 2 favourites that we read every night and she knows them word for word. A must for any religious family wanting to introduce prayers th their little ones.
