Saved a ton of $ !
I ordered this in September so I could install b4 end of Oct., when I'll need to begin using my Heat. I received this several days b4 projected arrival. I'm one of those "Handy Man" types. I don't install heating systems, but I am well equipped to service them to an extent. Last year I replaced the auto- exhaust damper. Saved $300 I would have given the "Guy". This L.W.C.O. is the first one I've replaced. It would have cost me bet. $400-500 to have a N.Y. Plumber install this!!! The Plumbers here in N.Y. are a complete rip off! This is the EXACT model replacement of original unit installed in 2008. I noticed the issue with old unit. The control board is fine. The old unit was leaking constantly and slowly. Turns out the rubber seal,(not visible until removing sensor), dries out, cracks, hence the leaking. Lasted 12 yrs. I took my time to install. If I had to install again, it would take me 15min. If this is your first time, make sure system has been off for a day or so and is COLD. Locate the water feed to system and close it. Locate gauge that shows temp/ pressure. (Mine is inside of main cover). Note the pressure.(mine was at 17ps). Locate drain valve and slowly let out water until pressure reads Zero. Close valve. Prep. New sensor with thread sealant, NOT Teflon tape! When you remove old sensor, be ready with new. Water will be exiting, just start threading in new sensor. Tighten down well and have visible screws horizontal when complete. Install controll unit housing. You should have just the Green power LED lit. Yellow , "low water" LED ,off. Open water feed to burner, slowly! Also, you can test this new L.W.C.O. before installing. After new sensor in place, do a "dry run" connection of control unit. Connect it ,FREE, of sensor. The power AND yellow light should light.( The unit thinks you have no water). Then disconnect all wiring and install control unit as per instructions, wire back up and you're ready for winter. If in any doubt, take pictures before you change anything. Very happy with my purchase. Oh, you'll probably have air in the piping and you'll hear it. You're Air bleeder valves should handle that as pumps circulate the water.
