Thank You, God, For Mommy

Everyone should get this book! Read it every day to your child! We are not promised tomorrow and this book is a sweet reminder of how much love a mom has for her child...as you read it, think back to a similar time you had with your mom. A boo-boo that your mom kissed and made it all better, waking up in the middle of the night from a bad dream or thunderstorm and running into your mom's room and her holding you close and suddenly feeling everything is going to be okay. I'm 49 and though I can't remember a lot from my childhood, I remember many moments like these as if they were yesterday. I didn't know my birth father so my mom was everything to me - both Mom & Dad!My mom passed away on January 22, 2017 and while she was in Hospice I was reading to her and wished I had brought a few books from home so I went to Amazon (my favorite place to shop). I was looking for a particular book and this one was on "Customers also bought" list so I got it too. The precious nurses and staff at Hospice said the last thing to go is one's hearing and I wanted to comfort my mom the way she always comforted me. I read this book to her numerous times during those 6 days and she seemed to struggle less, became more restful, peaceful, and I knew she felt my love for her and may have even been remembering some of the similar moments we had shared like those in this book. I miss my mom more than words can say!Thank you Amy Parker for writing this wonderful book that allowed me to share a few more precious moments with my mom before she left this world. I know that one day I'll see her again in Heaven and will once again feel her embrace! But until then, I'm comforted by the special moments I had with her and read this book often. May the Lord bless you for using the special gift He gave you!

I read A LOT of books about the mom-child relationship from kissy/lovey types (which were so not me) through to religious books (that just boxed moms into certain roles and tasks). After all that reading and some returns... this book is hands down my favorite mommy book!One of the main reasons I like this book so much is that the book manages to represent the mom-child relationship without relying on too many specific tasks... which not every mom will necessarily fit into. So instead of saying something like mommy takes me to the park and plays with me on the slide, this book instead focuses on the feelings a mom provides in the relationship like mommy's smile shines so bright and cheers me up inside when I am feeling sad. By having the book focus on feelings and deeper connections to one's parent, the book becomes deeper and far more valuable that any other mom-child book I have read for toddlers.The book covers how the mom provides cheer when a child is sad, forgiveness when uh-ohs happen, love through actions, healing/caring of wounds, encouraging joy/laughter, calming fears, exampling faith, and singing lullabies.

This book is SO cute and I love it!!! But if I didn’t know how to remove permanent marker, I would have returned it in a heartbeat. So I guess this review is more about the seller than the book itself. I bought used and in good condition but the book came with BIG permanent marker writing on the very first page! Not acceptable. Thankfully the pages are super shiny and hairspray removed it.

We got this book to my son when he was 7 months old. He looked at the illustrations and enjoyed while I read it to him. Now he is 26 months old and he still loves it. He finishes all the sentences and points to the images saying the names! Very cute book.

I used this book for a gift, but when it arrived in the bubble pack I was disappointed to see that it had a puncture on the front cover even though she represented it as new. The envelope itself did not have any damage.

Not only does my 2 1/2 year old grandson LOVE this book, this Mimi LOVES watching his 9 year old brother read it to him! :-) He has already had it read to him so many times, he will read it aloud HIMSELF when all of us tire out!!! No, he doesn't get the words correctly, but he KNOWS that Mommy loves him!
