Awesome game for anime fans from the 80s to today!
Awesome game for the anime fan.It has a bunch (I believe 52 of them) of characters from shonen mangas. BUT only 39 are playable the rest are aids that you can select to help you like in other fighters but not controlable. If you don't see your favorite anime character show is because it's not from an anime that appear on the shonnen comics. If you were into anime from the 80s or a fan of newer animes of today then you won't find a better game to test their power. You have characters like goku and vegeta, ichigo, Lufin, naruto/sasuke/madara to others that were bigger outside the U.S. globally like ruroni kenshin, Seiya from saint seiya/caballeros del zodiaco or more old school like kenshiro. The PLUS version is fully in Japanese audio BUT all voices have English only subtitles. No dubs no other languages. The menus and everything else is in English so this is the version to get. There is a story mode which is a nice way to start understanding gameplay mechanics, but is not deep at all. It does add some nice replay value since there are 4 of them. Same story different characters. You have to boost characters and items in this mode, but nothing hard and should be Easy to boost everything. All boosts aside this won't affect much of online or arcade gameplay. Only cards can affect them and are not required and most won't have them turn on to play multiplayer anyway.Balanced game this is not. Some characters are better some are meh, but you can master any of them and beat the cpu but online you will need to select better ones if you want to win.Mix ad match is great. Having my fav characters battle each other is amazing and works great. Especials are awesome, but more famous characters like naruto have better looking specials effect wise. This game is not for competition fighting, I'm sure in competitions we would only see the sane 6 characters playing. To unlock characters you need to spend points you get from the story mode or battleing online and then going to the character store to spend the points. No real money, should be fairly easy to unlock them all after 1 story gameplay. After 2-3 hrs on the story you can spend what you got to unlock a bunch of your favorite ones. You need to pass the story levels to unlock more spaces. So if you want to unlock everyone then you need to do the story mode to have all the spaces be available. Takes a few hours only though and will learn how to control all characters more or less. Most characters use the same control scheme some are close combat others are long range, but button presses are the same.Ultimates are fairly easy to pull and techniques are easy to do as well.I highly recommend this game (PLUS) version to any anime fan. The graphics are great, the characters look great and it's a lot of fun.Online doesn't seem to have many people playing and this was the first weeks of release so don't expect to constantly play just online. You can coop w someone at your house or online either in story mode or multiplayer so that is cool as well. You can add easily your own music from your hd in the PS3 version and I did it for the music I wanted to hear from my fav characters and it kinda works because they can get mixed together and you have two singers and sings that don't match when doing ultimate a singing at the same time. A simple patch to stop level music from playing when doing ultimate would Make the uploaded songs work perfect.Any questions lmk!

If you like Smash Brothers you will love this.
First off I like to say I am surprised Japan brought this over to the US with English subtitles. Prior to this, these type of games where imported only outside of Japan. I remember when I had Jump Ultimate Stars on the Nintendo DS, which is also a great game and wondered if they would ever bring a game like this over here on the big systems in English and now I have that answer. This game is awesome! The fighting although you can say it is a button masher at best is allot of fun, but then sometimes it can still be challenging depending on your skill level. The game has many different modes to play from Story mode, free Battle vs mode just to name a few, I love the J-Jump RPG mechanics that are thrown in on story mode it really makes it feel more like and adventure game even though the main premise of it is fighting. There are many different things to do in story mode which in my opinion saves this game from getting a bad review. My only gripe is that so far Kenshiro is not really on the story mode at least not on your team but to be fare I have yet to play all the different parts of the story modes he is a playable character once you unlock him as well as others in free battle mode etc. but as a Fist Of The North Star fan I was kinda disappointed in that. Overall I didn't let that take away from the fun I had with this game and who knows he may be apart of someones team in the other story modes. If you like Super Smash Bros. and is a fan of most the anime and Manga characters on this game then this is perfect for you.

Tons of fun for Shonen Jump fans
J-Stars Victory Vs+ is an English version of J-Stars Victory Vs which launched in Japan in early 2014. The game features many different Shonen Jump characters that can battle it out across various locales from Jump series. Over 32 different series are represented with about 50 characters making appearances in the game. From iconic manga mega stars like Goku, Naruto, and Luffy, to the more obscure and niche characters like Luckyman, there's bound to be at least one character you love.I'd say it took a little while for me to warm up to the fighting system but once I had everything down, I started having a blast. There's no denying the fighting system feels too loose and chaotic to be made into anything serious, and some characters are straight up broken, but that hasn't really hampered my fun. I knew going in this was purely a fanservice game and that's exactly what I got.I will say this does seem like a game that will wear down after awhile. There isn't much variety in the modes and most characters play the same. Online is a blast, and I'd say the lag has been negligible for me and I have terrible internet. There is a story mode but... honestly I think it's terrible and don't know if I'll even go back to it.The graphics are pretty good, even on PS3. There are some fps drops and the game does occasionally stutter but it's perfectly playable.Overall I'd say this is a definite buy if you love Shonen Jump and understand this is a fairly shallow fanservice game. If you're looking for something for serious competitive play or you only want it because you like DBZ I'd suggest you save your money.Should probably also mention that, even with the "+" in the title this is literally the exact same game as the one that launched in Japan, only now with English text and an arcade mode. No new characters or stages, though it also does have every single character the original had which is a victory all in its own. (pun absolutely intended) If you already imported, unless you really loved the game or just want to support this localization I wouldn't bother.
