👍
My 7 year old (struggling reader) really loves this book. I love that it’s formatted for 3 days per week while still teaching the lesson effectively. I’ve never been a fan of busy work; I am naturally busy enough and so are my kids. We’ve run the gamut of homeschool options, within our parameters of homeschool philosophy, over the course of 8 kids... Masterbooks hits a sweet spot.

My daughter loves this science book!
We homeschool and were looking for a science curriculum with a little depth than others we had previously used. My daughter is very interested in the how's and why's of things, so the typical first grade "my eyes help me see and keep me safe" approach of our other books just doesn't cut it. We're on week four and we are loving this book and considering trying some of their other subjects as well.Reasons why I like this book:1) Much more real science than other first grade text books2) It's very easy to use, tells the parents exactly what to do with no teacher guide needed. It's broken up into 3 days per week, and it takes a very short time to go through the lessons.3) Great experiments with almost entirely household items. The only things I don't have around that house that I've had to buy for the first 16 weeks were a prism and a magnifying glass. I haven't bothered to look farther than that, but there are weekly experiments.4)I really like the approach it takes to teaching. The main lesson theme is repeated numerous times during a week, but not drilled into a child in a tedious or boring way. It's very conversational. Having come from more traditional and repetitive curriculum, we're enjoying how easy this makes learning.5) I like the way this is organized and that it is bible based. It constantly points back to God, and the word, and teaches verses along with our science.6) The lessons and experiments easily lend themselves to additional conversations and experiments. We've enjoyed them so much we add our own little things on, like throwing a stuffed animal to see if it can move faster than the speed of light while we're testing to see how fast light moves.7) My daughter never groans when I say it's time for science

Far too basic--more "busy-work" than real science study.
I bought this because of the good reviews I heard from people I knew personally. I was disappointed to find that it is a lot of "fluff." I like that it is a Christian book designed to teach kids that science begins with God and creation...but it is way too dumbed down. The experiments are so basic and boring for my 5-year-old and so far, 7 weeks in, nothing new for him that we haven't already taught him before. The "Imagine That" Bible-inspired stories don't keep even my 4 year old's attention and both of my boys, preschool and kindergarten ask "when do we get to do the SCIENCE?!" We had to create our own science notebook and look up our own experiments and even deeper information to make it in-depth and something that is actually enjoyable to my preschooler and kindergartener. Then, we pretty much sit down and read the scientific facts which takes 5 minutes. I'm only giving this 2 stars because I like that it includes relevant Scriptures and points everything back to the Creator. But I would not recommend it for preschoolers or kindergartners who love science and really want to learn about it in-depth and truly STUDY it. If your kids love coloring pages and don't care for science, then maybe this would suit you better?

Not really impressed
We really couldn't get into this book. My kids found it kind of boring. I've moved on to other science resources (they like watching science videos). I do like that it combines Bible teachings and science but it just didn't hold my kiddo's attention.

Wonderful!
We are so excited to start this book. My son is in K but is using Masterbooks level 1 Math. The level 1 science was way too much for him. Enter this book. Already j can tell it's going to be a new favorite. A wonderful start for the science loving kid. We LOVE Masterbooks!

Love love love
Love this curriculum for my kindergarten girl and 1st grade boy. The heavy biblical influence makes teaching science to very science curious kids easy and really fun.

Great Book.
This book in more in-depth than the McGraw-Hill textbook I bought for my second grader! Great information. Love it. Thanks!

Wonderful
I was hesitant to purchase, but I have been thrilled with the content of this book. We do not use it as our core science curriculum. We read this in the morning as we eat our breakfast (4 and 6 year old children). It is written in simple language as a gently introduction to science topics. I have been delighted with the easy experiments that are not fluffy, but do a great job of expanding the learning in a hands-on way without requiring a lot of work or supplies.
