A Rehash Of DSM-5, Not Sure What's Made Easy.
I didn't really like this book all that much. I thought the "Made Easy" part would mean that there would be at a glance graphics and illustrations instead of wall-to-wall text with all the pertinent info buried in there. For instance, Autism and Asperger's are now a part of the Autism Spectrum Disorder. Can't we get a graphic or something making it easier for us to conceptualize this spectrum? Wouldn't that make it easier? And then on page 89, he does give us a very small graphic, hardly even worth calling a graphic, showing us the relationship between psychosis and mood when diagnosing Schizoaffective Disorder. For me, you might as well just get the DSM and read that. This book does have case scenarios that he sort of guides you through, but I found them tedious to follow. I think a more appropriate title would be: DSM-5: A Walk Through because that's all he does is walk you through the DSM-5, and it's not any easier than if you just read the DSM-5. You can think of this book like a news commentator who gives you an analysis of what a politician just said. It is basically a rehash of what you already heard. This book is that. A rehash of the source material, reconfigured slightly with case scenarios. Better to just get the DSM-5 and read it yourself. Ironically, taking the DSM-5 and making it easier to understand would have required more work than he put into this book, and unfortunately, that makes the title almost like Click Bait. There is no Made Easy.

The best way to learn to diagnose!
For me, the DSM has always been intimidating and dry. I bought this book on a whim because I want to be better about recognizing disorders and properly diagnosing them. This book makes it very easy to understand and interesting. I will use this book to have a comfortable understanding of diagnoses and will only use the DSM for reference.

Useful Book, but hardcover edition was printed by gnomes
Haven't yet read the entire book, as it's a textbook, but after having skimmed the text and read the introduction, this would appear to be a useful reference adjunct to the DSM-5. What appears most useful to the beginning clinician is the inclusion of prototypes for the major disorders; this would seem to eliminate the temptation for newbies to diagnose clients by a cumbersome "checklist" method. My only quibble at this point about the item itself (hardcover) is that it was poorly and cheaply printed; many pages look as if they were copied on a Xerox machine at the public library, and the shiny paper so common to today's textbooks can create an uncomfortable glare if you're reading the book at night under a desk lamp. Moreover, the book appears to have been bound incorrectly, creating varying amounts of white space on the pages, as well as a somewhat lopsided spine that has resulted in some torn pages...guess the book could benefit from some chiropractic intervention. Mental Health Professional must have !!!!!!!!!!!!!
DSM-5 made Easy is a must have companion on every mental health professional shelf.as a Mental Health Counselor in training I found this book to be the most helpful in explaining and addressing the complicated guide of the DSM. I believe that each student who had encountered the DSM-5 at first was confused and frustrated to navigate between codes, diagnosis criteria and conceptualizing a case. The DSM-5 Made Easy is the book to buy with the DSM-5 to better understand in a clearer ,simplest way the challenging language of the DSM.i highly recommend this book.good luck to all of us.

Good book
I had to purchase this for one of my classes but it is really awesome to get an overall general understanding of disordersIt doesn't provide the specific criteria for diagnosing but rather the general things to look out for and consider. It was case studies for each disorder which is neat and helps you understand the disorder better and how it would present in a real life situation
