Not what everyone is making it out to be
Let me just start off, This is a review written by a good friend that is as accurate as a review as your going to get from someone who's NOT BIAS towards RE Series being manipulated... Well it's finnaly here and i popped my disk in this morning I have only played a but of the main campaign by myself so far and I am waiting to go any further untill we get a play group going. The reason for this is the game is very hard to play by yourself i often find myself being swarmed by lickers, zombies, flaming zombies, hunters, and other nasty things that infect and kill you pretty quickly. The AI of for your squad of course is pretty terrible (as in most games) I have only one bug i have noticed so far is when playing alone one of your squad members will not move and stay stuck in the beggining of the level. As far as gameplay goes it's pretty good so far and the auto cover is actually not too bad and cover in this game is essential to surviving no running and gunning if your facing things with any range to them ammo conservation is also key. The only problems i have so far is the melee and grenades if there are multiple enemies around you its hard to focus on one enemy with auto aim on so i turnt mine off. The executions are pretty cool and a lot of the characters abilities are handy. In order to use the skills you have to unlock them as you rank up in the game and they cost some exp points. You can also buy weapons with exp points in the loading lobby for levels. Each character does play well to the class they are assigned the only one I have not tried out is the medic. Healing works the same as in past resident evil where you use herbs and first aid, but they add the infection spray which takes away your infected status. Graphics are pretty sound but this is a dark game I had to turn my gamma up a bit. Blood looks pretty good and so does almost everything. Im sure I will find many other bugs as I play but this is the launch day so im sure some things will be patched as they are found and reported! So far this is all I have played but i will continue this once we get further and i have tried out the multiplayer. (ADDED HOURS LATER) Now I have played a fair amount of multiplayer today and i can say i love most of it it really captures the feel of being on edge when you have to worry about your enemy and the zombies there really has been no camping because there is no room for camping they make the maps not too small but small enough with a combination of threats everywhere to make sure nowhere is safe not even your own spawn. Raccoon city really rewards playing with your team and sticking together if you go off alone and the other team doesnt kill you the zombies and bow's will and i like that chaotic feeling. Thats why i can't understand why I have seen some reviewers saying they dont see any atmosphere to the game when i think they did a really good job with the panic and chaos of it. Operation Raccoon city takes me back abit to some of the old shooters where you had to load some rounds into a player to kill him unlike current ones which you can put a few to the chest and they are dead. It takes abit more trigger skill to kill you have to place your shots right and control your bursts. My favorite multiplayer mode so far is Heroes mode where you select a character from iconic resident evil characters and the team with the last surviving hero is the victor. Basically just survive with your team and keep each other alive. After your hero has been killed you cannot spawn back in as the hero but as a umbrella character or spec ops character and try to defend your hero. Next is Team Attack this mode is just team deathmatch which is pretty fun in this game Biohazard is where your team tries to collect all the G-Virus samples around the map before the other team while fending each other off. Last is Survivor mode. This mode is like a kind of the hill mode where there is a spot your team has to hold while fending off the other team who is trying to capture it. (EDIT) Its a damn good game, not without flaws, but for an online multiplayer scrim with clans and friends, this game is really nice.

SOCOM WITH ZOMBIES (After the patch)
It seems that I listened to half of you enthusiasts about the game, so I bought it. I am seriously loving the game. Now, I really see how this thing is so addictive, and I already see myself playing it time and time again to get everything. Graphics: GREAT. Pretty choppy but not in a terrible way, especially when you factor in Hordes of zombies and lickers. Gameplay: Like SOCOM (current gen). You cant crouch, but you can take cover behind low obstacles. Zombie murdering has never been more fun, ESPECIALLY when ragdoll physics send Zombies and other foes slamming into walls and over tables. However, there is a dive that is kind of fun, but I dont know what to do with it. The only bad thing is that when you play online, Head-shots are not AS effective, but they work. and you have an awesome melee moveset which includes pretty cool take-down/human-zombie shield moves. Controls: Be sure to set your controls properly and you cant go wrong. They are pretty fluid. I kind of wish there were some stylish rolls, and maybe some crouching, especially since these guys are Bad-ass. Story: CAMPY. but SERIOUS. FUNNY (even though they don't intend to be). but it is Good. especially for what it sets out to do. Overall: I REALLY WISH that they would focus on this elite squad on other things, letting this game be their last mission. The characters are cool, edgy and could use some character polish, because you care about them, even though you know nothing about them. The guns are awesome, and the Game needs a horde mode, because Wave survival would fit this game. Nutshell: Buy it. Update it. love it. especially at the $15-$20 range. I can see why $60 adopters would be furious, but hey, it is definitely worth $25-$30. I just may buy the DLC. PS. there is no local co-op or splitscreen. this game would have greatly benefit from this.

FOR DIE-HARD "RE" FANS...!!! ONLINE MULTIPLAYER RECOMMENDED
I'm kinda blown away by all the negative reviews here? I have played ALL the R.E. games since the first title on PlayStation back in 1996. I still love and enjoy them all, and take each on its merits, and try NOT to do too much comparison to previous titles. I even bought the old Nintendo GameCube JUST so I could play all the RE titles when they were solely licensed for that console! If you are a TRUE FAN of RE, then you will LOVE this game ... as long as you do NOT compare it to other RE titles ... CLEAR? If you are now coming NEW to the RE series, you will likely be very disappointed, especially if you try to compare RE:ORC to other war-shooters like CoD, etc. This game is definitely for lovers of the RE franchise; I often found myself laughing and smiling when coming across a fond reminder of one of the earlier games (Kendo's Gun Store, anyone?). That being said, I REALLY enjoy playing this game! Am still playing on the Single-Player campaign, and haven't finished yet! Don't know how some people are claiming the Single-Player is "only" a 5 or 6-hour game? Finishing this game in 5 or 6 hours would only be possible IF: * You are NOT playing the game on the highest difficulty: "Professional" * You are NOT experimenting with any of the different weapons, character abilities, XP's, and level-up system. * You are NOT scouring each area as you "clear" it for special hidden items, data disks, ammo & supplies, etc (these all earn you valuable XP's) IF you do ALL of the above, I guarantee you will NOT finish this game in under 10 or 12-hours. I am currently at 11+ hrs of game-time, and still in the middle of mission #5. According to other reviews here, there are 6-missions total, so obviously I have several more hours of gaming ahead of me! Now, I will admit that "Professional" difficulty is VERY HARD, but it makes the game that much more challenging and rewarding. I played thru Mission #1 on each difficulty rating, using different characters each time. I recommend you do the same. It allows you to try different weapons and abilities, and get used to the control scheme ... AND earn some much needed XP's to unlock other weapons and abilities later. I love the fact the game saves ALL your XP's, even if you decide to switch to a different character. You MUST earn and save XP's to unlock some weapons (can you say "Heavy Machine Gun"?) or Professional difficulty will be near impossible; also, they plant things like the Grenade Launcher in certain areas for a REASON! I've seen some complaints about "not enough ammo." HUH? You're either a total ammo-waster, a REALLY bad shot, you're not looking hard enough, and/or you don't believe in ever using your sidearm or using any of the enemies' dropped weapons. I have NEVER had a problem having enough ammo. Yes, I have run out of ammo for my Primary Weapon (twice?) ... but there's almost ALWAYS a bunch of other weapons lying around. When you do come across an ammo box, run back to where you dropped your empty `favorite' weapon, bring it back and reload! And I will now be joining XBOX LIVE because of this game. Never had reason to before now, but all the other reviews here suggest this makes RE:ORC even better, and having played the single-player game I can see why. Yes, I agree that the single-player A.I. does leave something to be desired, but this is not a reason to downgrade the game significantly. Also, I REALLY wish they had added SPLIT-SCREEN multiplayer so I could have a buddy with me, "live." Finally, my tips for surviving on "Professional" difficulty in Single-Player campaign: * Play Mission #1 several times with different characters to learn the game AND earn valuable XP's! * Take "Bertha" (Medic) as one of your AI partners: she will use First-Aid sprays on you and your teammates, and save your bacon! * "Max-out" some of your character's abilities early on; you will need to determine which your favorites are. * Save your XP's to unlock some of the bigger/better weapons; don't "spend early" and settle for the weaker/smaller, "so-so" weapons. My personal faves are the Juggernaut (auto-shotgun) and the Heavy Machine Gun. Looking forward to "RE:6" ... !!!

Far from terrible but good enough if you like online play
Ever since operation RC was announced many people were unsure of what kind game it is. The producers of the game state the concept idea was "KILL LEON" and they built the game from there. As more and more detail were revealed many fans knew that this was a spin off title of the RE franchise, kind of like the gun survivor series. The enticing part of the game is in the title, the players would be playing in raccoon city and witnessing the chaos that befall the city in time period of RE2 and RE3. The players can alter event from the original games so in the end its a "what if" scenario. Neat idea huh? That's pretty much the games selling point. You play as the bad guys essentially and your whole mission is to wipe any evidence leading back to your employer Umbrella. This is a cool and refreshing idea. Umbrella corp is the main antoganist throughout the early RE games and finally playing as them or at least a branch of them is still pretty cool. But at the same time its a dissapointment, the characters you play as are merely fan fiction they all look cool and are adapt at disposing zombies but lack anything to differentiate them from another except gender. They are faceless characters with cool voices. I wasn't expecting high caliber character development but at the same time they could of given more back story for some of them, in the end it feels rushed and most people want to play as the famous RE bad guys like HUNK for example. The singleplayer is pretty bland and the worthwhile thing is playing through to see how you'll interact with the RE event from the original games or you want to shoot zombies with a friends. If your buying it for the latter I'd say skip this game there are a ton of games that offer more co op then this game offers. If your getting it strictly for the story your wasting you money as the single player in general is a missed oppurtunity. They could of made is it a lot more engaging in terms of the actual RE timeline. And the worst part is THERE IS NO COUCH CO-OP! this is a deal breaker if you don't play online its a waste of $60. Multiplayer, now if your buying the game to play online your in for a treat. I'm currently enjoying the multiplayer a lot, and I rarely get hooked to online shooters. I play FPS casually if ever but this game I really like playing. Its different as in your not always worrying about other players but also B.O.Ws and of course the ever present zombies that litter every map. Surprisingly there is depth to the multiplayer. You gain exp for even killing zombies and other monsters this is small but helpful. The xp you get completing missions in singleplayer crosses over to the multiplayer and vice versa this is helpful for everyone and its indeed helpful if your going to be playing online heavily. The depth in combat is interesting you have the standard shooting mechanic but sadly no option to change the controls. A cover system is there but its not good and can be a hassle. Its not a press button and viola cover, its more like a sticky cover where you press near a wall or whatever and you'll pop into cover. Its sound easy but sometime you won't have time to adjust when you'll be getting shot at. Some other cool things about the online combat is the different classes they are all unique for the most part. Each has they're own abilities you can use effectively, you can later upgrade these to make them even more usefull. The medic for example has the ability to use a pheromones such as zombies or BOWs. Its satisfying to tag a enemy player and watch a Hunter go after them. The modes are varied except for the standard team deathmatch which you've probably played in other games, its no different here except the zombies and bows running about. The modes that you'll want to play are Heroes which lets you play as RE characters in two teams killing each others captains to win. Survival is where a helicopter will come in about 4-5 min and if your not on it you'll be left behind, and there is only 4 spots in the copter. Everytime you die it takes longer to respawn. Biohazard is capture the flag with vials instead of flags unoriginal but still fun. The multiplayer will keep you busy, there isn't anything wrong with it that i can think of except for some glitches that can happen due to lag but most matches I've been in have been lag free and smooth. OTHER THOUGHTS I really didn't expect much from this game. I wanted to try out a multiplayer game since I have xbox live gold for about two more months. And I also wanted to see the scenarios in the singleplayer game. But the surprisingly the multiplayer has got me hooked and for that i'd say its $65 dollars well spent. And I bought the SE for less thanks to pre ordering it early. Thank you amazon If your getting this for the single player please don't your paying for less content. This is a online/co op game first and single player second. If your looking for a online game with a RE setting then I'd say this game is definitely worth it. But its no way a representation of what resident evil should be online. Still eagerly awaiting another resident evil outbreak. Play it for what it is a spin off title like the gun survivor games.

This game is ausome
This game is still a good game.It has very good 3-dimensional resolution and Good Sound Effects In it.Yes the CPU Players are slow but its a work in progress all games CPU players either get in your way or end up shooting you on accident. The game itself is a great game and is good for people who love to play as characters with masks on and kill zombies while also for the resident evil fans it lets play and try to cover up the mess that umbrella created in the city of raccoon. Its very fun with the CPUs and Enables Teamwork in play. Its truly an ausome franchise needed to buy.The game is expensive because of the work put in it.Improving resolution,Sound Effects and most of all the CPU response time. The people in this game are really different in they're personality and traits andd skills. The most important thing about survival is you must work ass a team.Iff your having problems with sound or resolution try buying an HDMI kit to help.People who think this game is bad you either an indiot or crazy. It Is a good game for people who love the character HUNK and enjoy resident evil series.I bought this game for $66.07 and it was worth the money. You just need to buy an HDMI or an Component AV/IN cable to boost the graphics on it.Yes it is dark but thats okay as long as you have an HDMI cable with you.You guys disappoint me you should keep your thoughts to yourself,This game is not that bad you guys really are tightasses when it comes to games.

i like it
When i heard that this game is going to suck from a preview, i chose to go with the game anyway to see for myself and i'm glad i did. I think its a pretty fun game. Its not game of the year but its still fun. You still get to run through raccoon city and shot zombies. The downsides i find with this game like in the other review on here was the firepower. It takes a lot to kill just one spec op guy even if your shooting him in the head. I would think thats something to fix. The other thing is the story line, its a decent but not much in depth. I also agree with the AI sucks but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Sometimes those guys save my butt so i cant really complain to much. I think the review IGN was pretty harsh, i would have given it a 6.0 instead of 4.0. Its not that bad. The reason i'm giving it 5 stars on here because people are making it sound bad and its really not. So if your expecting the same gameplay as the old resident evil games, then you will be dissappointed. Its definately a shooter game. Which is pretty cool but they should have hired a company that makes good shooter games like rainbow 6 vegas. If you are unsure to get this game i would atleast rent this game before you buy it, so your not wasting your money if you are disappointed. But i really like it. The campaign mulitplayer is pretty fun too and the game breaks back memories from re2.

Resident Evil finally returns....
Many people having chosen to slam Operation Raccoon City just because it was produced by Slant Six Games, having played this game, I'd say it's worthier of carrying the name of Resident Evil or Bio-Hazard than some the previous releases (Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil Revelations and these were actually made by Capcom). For the first time in quite a while I found myself buying a game where I was interested in the playable character(s), instead of buying the game to see a cameo of Jill, Wesker, Ada or HUNK. While sadly in story mode/campaign you cannot play as Jill Valentine, HUNK, Ada Wong, Barry Burton, etc.; you get the new delta squad/The Wolf Pack, replacing the last gas-mask wearing Delta soldiers who died in Resident Evil 0. SPOILER: The squad being Lupo, Spectre, Beltway, Four-Eyes, Bertha, and Vector, a protege of HUNK :SPOILER. So in other words you don't have to play as Leon, Chris or Claire in the main story. Speaking of which, the story is pretty damn good; as the title implies the game takes place during Resident Evil 2 & 3, featuring the classic B.O.W.s, including the zombies (I for one was getting tired of all that "Las Plagas" crap, give me a T-Virus outbreak or G-Sample heist any day over groups of rejects from "The Crazies"). PROS: Great Graphics. Plays well. Sound really puts you in the urban hell Raccoon City has become Zombies, Umbrella, Classic Bio-Organic Weapons. Interesting change in point-of-view CONS: The weapon switch function is pretty sensitive. Spec-Ops/Leon/Claire manage to make the zombies an almost unfair advantage for them pretty fast. For B.O.W.s such as the T-103s and Nemesis, you pretty much have to either figure out how to defeat them by yourself or go online to find someone who already has.

The third person miscarriage of resident evil
Arrived on time in unopened condition the real problem with the game is it’s almost a parody of resident evil 4 with its dumb clumpy action and cheesy incounters and verbal sparring but it hits all the wrong notes and has no charming characters interesting locations or upgradeable weaponary that improved as the character did no real story either the set prices it doesn’t airlift from other games make it feel like some call of duty map modded badly with resident evil villains
