Q: Do you have to wrap and unwrap each time to get a clean section of the floss?

You don't need to wrap/unwrap unless you want a clean section of floss. I personally advance the floss only when it breaks, because I really don't see a need for a "clean section of floss." The purpose of flossing is to loosen/remove/mechanically disrupt food particles and bacteria, and a used section of floss does that very well.

Q: be real with me... what is calculus buildup?

Dental hygienist (17+ years) here- "calculus" is the clinical term for what the public thinks of as "tartar"- it's rock-hard, calcified plaque. It builds up when plaque isn't removed completely from teeth- the proteins in the plaque combine with enzymes and minerals in saliva, and calcify to teeth. Calculus cannot be brushed away with a toothbrush- it must be removed with instruments in the dental office. But it can be prevented from forming by making sure your teeth stay as clean of plaque as possible, and this is a good tool to help with that (I don't work for the company, but have been recommending and using this product for years).

if it's not said BPA or made in USA on the label then more likely NOT

Q: Does it hold certain floss?

no--it holds all the ordinary brands of floss you find in the drugstore--waxed or unwaxed. And it fact it holds the threads very well--they don't slip off while you're flossing.
