16 of Their Greatest Hits

I started becoming a Mamas & the Papas groupie in the 70's when I grew up. Anytime I listen to their songs, it brings back wonderful memories. This has all of my favorite songs on it. I was going to purchase vinyl but decided I didn't want the interruption of having to flip the records. This provides continuous playing through all 16 of some of thier greatest hits. It's got my favorites on it and the sound is clear. I've not turned it way up to see how crystal clear it is (trying to be respectful of neighbors) but plan to on my next car trip.

The music is great but it’s very quiet. Volume has to be turned up significantly to hear at a normal volume

well does sound better than other mixes, but its no SACD, Audio DVD or quad mix for sure. But it is the best stereo mix I have heard on CD. Way to go Steve. with this type of sound I see why Steve did not give this the SACD treatment, would not improve.

If you want to hear the Mamas and the Papas like you never heard them before, this is it! Remastered by an obvious genius, Steve Hoffman, this cd comes through with such clarity on all fronts, that it will shock you, yes shock you! Although the magic that is the Mamas and the Papas is evident in all of their recordings, this one here is so well put together, that there is no comparison. It's that good. I compared this with the other "Sixteen Greatest Hits" and didn't even make it through the the first song to know that this was really something special. If your a M&P's fan, this will certainly make your day. If your not a M&P's fan, you will become one after playing this!

This review is for the Canadian 1986 MCA CD mastered by Steve Hoffman.Excellent sonics, most of their original records don't sound this good. You can hear tape hiss and imperfections but this is a 50+ year old recording so thats to be expected. Nice warm sound that can be cranked up. A+

Typically the original recording/production quality from this era is substandard due to it being made for AM radio. Not so with this CD. Based on another customer's recommendation I chose this compilation over several others and am not disappointed. Very nice sound and a decent selection of their work.

Good thing there were 16 songs -- I did not even know some of them very well but these were supposedly hits??It was an okay album -- a mix of things -- but I'd not pay more than a USED price for it

Probably the worst dvd i have ever purchased, sound quality is very poor.Avoid buying this, buy best of the mamas pappas, only 3.95 great cd.Robin.
