CELESTIONClassic Lead 80 guitar speaker, 8 ohm

I put this into an open back Seismic cabinet that had a Celestion Greenback in it. My main amp is a Mesa Lone Start Special, and I like a thicker, more rounded sound, even when cranked. The Greenback just sound a bit too brittle to me. I use this speaker/cab with my backup amp, a Mesa TA-15.I mainly use Les Pauls with either PAF clones or P-90s. The sparkle of the EL84s in those amps combined with those pickups and this speaker gives beautiful clarity and chime when desired, but can also deliver thick, compressed, sustain when cranked up. Very versatile.

I bought this speaker to replace the same model speaker that was in my 27 year old Galien Krueger 112LC lead combo (for lead guitar). The amp - after so many years - had some components loosen up, short, and kill the speaker. The speaker would have been good forever, if not attacked by the amp. So, don't worry about the speaker being tough. It will be.I've loved the G12-80 speakers in my two 112LC's ever since I bought the 2 of them around 1985. They scream when you turn up the volume, and the new one is just as cool.If you're looking for a great lead guitar speaker, look no further. Just ensure you get the one with the correct ohms specification.

Mounted this in an Egnater TM 2x12 cab with an Eminence Man of War. This is a banging combo. The spikey mids of Vintage 30's are gone. Just love this combo of speakers with my Orange Dual Terror Head.

Celestion.com has a good chart on which speakers are best for various applications.I had no idea there were so many variables.Anyway, I'm in a cover band, and we play a variety from 60's-today, so I needed an all around killer speaker.Also, I use in a 1x12" Egnater cabinet. Bruce Egnater said that high wattage/big speakers work best in the smaller cabs due to various reasons, mainly tons of headroom without breaking up... so I can crank up the volume on stage, without losing note definition and sound quality.I use a 30Watt Tube head. And I use only the clean channel... I run all digital effects through a clean channel, and this speaker is excellent for me.
