got one with a boat, and it was easy to repair
A few screws and the problem was exposed. Slight corosion from someone leaving batteries too long and a light green film on contacts. A little sand paper, some wax lip covering, and fixed. Then a little petroleum jelly on the weathered seal to seal it up again, and ready for more boating adventures.

The only complaint is that the handle tends to break. Much louder than the lesser model.
