A half-decent idea book, rendered obsolete by Pinterest
I recently picked up a small pile of garage idea books, including this one, as a way to brainstorm how I would wet up my garage. The Ultimate Garage is an ambitious book that covers a wide spectrum of topics in its 160 pages. Although the cover makes it seem like the focus is around automotive workshops, woodworking, and other fabrication-oriented hobbies, the book itself is written for a very, VERY wide range of garage uses, including crafting, home gyms, lawn care, indoor rock climbing, and model railroad/miniature collecting. As I mentioned in the title, the book isn't necessarily "bad" per se. Overall, it's just a bit obsolete in the era of social tools like Pinterest. The layout primarily consists of full-color photos with text annotations. Although plenty of garage organization products are shown, the book doesn't really feel like a sales catalogue. That's reserved for the "resource guide" at the end of the book, which contains a small graveyard of long-defunct websites. The book's Table of Contents consists of several broad categories, which I'll summarize below.Getting OrganizedThis chapter is comprised of a series of sections around how to go about getting rid of clutter--including ideas for what to sell, donate, or trash. The second half of this section includes a series of captioned photo collages about how to make effective use of space, ranging from above-garage-door storage racks, to sports equipment storage, and other ideas that modern readers have probably seen on social media in some form or another.Outfitting your GarageThis section covers ideas for lighting, heating, dust control, safety, plumbing, and a few others. It's a decent-enough Cliff's Notes of what to put in a garage, but it pales in comparison to similar books of the era like Ultimate Garage Handbook (Motorbooks Workshop) or How To Build Your Dream Garage (Motorbooks Workshop) .Enjoying Your GarageUse your garage for a studio! Use it for band practice! Use it for a spare bedroom! You get the idea.Overall, I'd categorize this book as "Worth picking up for $4 at a library book sale" territory.

Good ideas to use a garage
If you thought this book would be how to create the best auto home garage, you would be disappointed. This is better as ideas for alternative uses of a garage. Descriptions are demonstrated in good photos. Overall, this is as described. I love sunset books, but I gave it 4* as it tried to cover too much, nothing in enought depth.

Pass
Not really sure what the point of this book is other than pictures of garages-turned-workshops from 1991. I got 0 new ideas from an upcoming garage build.

Seller Review
Very happy with order and fast shipment. It was advertised as "like new" but they contacted me saying is was a little worn and do I still want the item. I said yes and when it came it was like new. I could not see the wear. They were great to deal with and I would reorder from them any time.

One of the better garage books
While not a book about layout or design, there are hundreds of photos of storage products in this book to stimulate your mind about organizing your garage. It's very well written and the indexed photos are excellent.Having been disappointment by many other so called garage books, this one was worth the purchase.

Not very resourceful
It gives you good ideas on what to do to\with your garage but does not tell you the supplier\s of the products featured on the photos. Nice as an idea book.
