LG Electronics LAB550H Sound Plate (2015 Model)

This is a great concept and regardless of some quirks, I'm happy with the purchase so far. The interface and menu defaults are kind of quirky and annoying. Not sure if it's my unit in particular of if others have experienced the same quirks.I come from the Roku experience where all I have to do is turn on the tv and the Roku app is where I last left it. With the sound plate I chucked the old tube tv and bought a 28 inch flat screen HD monitor. So in order to turn off the monitor I have to turn off the sound plate. When I turn on the sound plate it doesn't go to where I last left it, like the Roku. Instead it goes to the main menu and starts cycling the dvd tray open then close a few times. Sometime the dvd tray hangs up and freezes the whole system.I'd be happier if there was a setting that would make the system start up to the function it was at when it was shut down. There are a few other quirks but I won't list them all.Sound is good and it's a perfect solution for a disc only entertainment system in an armoire.

I like the concept and the sound it delivers. It is sturdy and really easy to install. Software is a little funky and it seems to get confused when using the optical fibre link - sometimes the speakers work from the directv box and sometimes they don't.. it all depends which unit you turn on first! Must use high-end HDMI with 4k and networking !

Once I got used to it it was very good. I experienced drop outs with the bluetooth so could use an update. Sound easily fills the room. if it had to rear speakers it would rock. I would buy again.

Very nice & syncs to my LG TV. Make sure to go to Best Buy entertainment and they will get you the right wires to setup to get best sound and connection wires. I use the ARC function from sound plate to TV. All wires are connected to the sound plate. Good buy!

Good Sound!

I am 24 hours in. I went from a 7.1 system with 2 large floor speakers. The sound is crisper and clearer. I am having a little trouble with the idea of no subwoofer but I get an amazing amount of rumble. It is wider and larger than I thought. The sound fills the space completely and I still hear all of my sounds ( some of which were lost with the old system because I did not have room for all 7 speakers). I will update after a day of football. I want to hear the crunch of helmets. The loss of a star is the physical woofer but if I could give 4.5 I would. There are so many less wires I feel like something should be wrong.

The sound plate was very convenient, speakers great but the setup was horrible. Only able to watch DVD or Netflix on it a couple times because we would either have video with no sound, or sound and no video. Took back to store and purchased Sony setup.

Bought this as an open box from a competing store. If you don't have the remote good luck on setup. The sound quality is awesome. I have it in my bedroom and it is perfect. I would without a doubt recommend this to other people.
