Despite claims in the description, top side loading does not work with Manfrotto plates. Top side loading also not as convenient as it sounds. The provided plate snaps into place, but that ease and speed goes away because the screw needs several turns to tighten or loosen the plate. Heavier than Smallrig 2266 and 3067. The 3067 not only much lighter, it's much faster to load the camera and better designed with a middle section that can be removed to lower the baseplate profile and reduce weight further if needed. Smallrig wins. On the plus side, the gray color looks cool.

Very well put together. And for my rig this addition was invaluable. My only concern is i don't get a click sound confirmation when plate in locked in on plate, sImilar to the Monfrotto system on the 502. A few times i thought it was securely in but it wasn't. After using the 502 for so long i got overly comfortable. But still a very good setup
