In my opinion, it's a great bang for the buck. - This is a good combo set up where the medium heavy rod is solid - stiff at the bottom but sensitive at the top. The reel is silky smooth. Only issue I have is that it's not suitable for my need for off-shore stripper fishing where I have to case the bait fairly far in the river. The rod can only handle (or recommended stamped on the pole) up to 1 oz weight. I really wish detailed information about the rod were in the description that is printed on the side of the rod (maz fishing line size, max weight size, etc). This is the reason I'm giving it 4 stars and the reason I ultimately decided to return the rood which desertcart accepted the return. I love desertcart's customer service, it's second to none. Nevertheless, for my needs, I require a rod that could go up to a 3 oz weight. So keep in mind what weight size and fishing line strenght you'll be using before ordering. If the Zebco made a combo with 7 foot heavy pole up to 3 oz. weight and same reel combo, I'll be all over it again. So if you only use up to a 1 oz weight and require up to max 20 lb mono fishing line then don't hesitant to get this combo. You'll be very happy. Oh, I forgot to mention that I did brought in a 8.5 lb stripper bass with the pole but, luckily, the fish was somewhat close to the shore (50 feet) and the river current wasn't strong that particular day.
