Classic Cars Coloring Book Paperback – February 27, 2007

Dover’s “Classic Cars Coloring Book” combines three of their other wonderful, detailed coloring books into one complete volume. This coloring book includes Dover’s “Classic Cars of the Fifties”, “American Muscle Cars 1960 – 1975” and “Luxury Cars” in a comprehensive work. I appreciated John's review (#1 most helpful) in which he pointed this out so that I could make a more budget-friendly purchase.Printed on heavy, high-quality white paper, each picture is highly detailed and accurate in its depiction of the featured car. Since there are few designs on each car, they can be “customized” by the artist. Bruce LaFontaine’s illustrations may be more difficult than younger car aficionados are able to color, but that will not detract from their delight when they receive this coloring book. My five-year old grandson was thrilled when he received his "Classic Cars Coloring Book" and began coloring enthusiastically, if not so neatly.Not only is the “Classic Cars Coloring Book” a treat for those who like to color, it is also informative and educational. Each page contains a picture to be colored, as well as a paragraph describing the car, its history, and some of its differences from similar vehicles offered by other manufacturers. This “Classic Cars Coloring Book” is a wonderful alternative to the movie tie-in offerings available in local retail outlets.You cannot go wrong purchasing any Dover coloring book. The quality of the illustrations, the educational value, and the overall excellence of their products is difficult to match.

Whenever I see a product with Bruce's name and Dover press, I automatically know that I will enjoy it, and this is no exception. This book includes other works by Bruce: "Cars of the Fifties," "American Muscle Cars" and "Luxury Cars."As I stated in another review, I often find myself in situations where I am waiting on my companion as she shops, conducts business or visits. So in those times of waiting, I pull out my trusty lap desk, my colored pencils and an adult coloring book -- this time, Bruce La Fontaine's "Classic Cars."The pictures are meticulously rendered. They all include backgrounds and some include people as well. So you better have some flesh color, sienna, ocre, umber and many shades of green amoungst your colors. Bruce includes enough detail to keep a conscientious coloring maven busy for hours. It takes me about two hours to color a page. I especially enjoy the stonework and plants.I use Crayola and Rose Art pencils and have recently addded some Prangs, Loews and Faber Castels to my pencil inventory. I have tried Prismacolor, but they tend to be too soft for me.If you are an adult into coloring and you enjoy meticulous detail, this is a coloring book you will enjoy.

Great cars and backgrounds to color and relax. I do wish the pages were thicker or one sided so markers wouldn’t bleed through. Other than that I love it. All of Bruce LaFontaine auto coloring books are great.

Pictures are centered on a medium weigh bright white , single sided paper.Great drawings of many types of muscle cars to color and not to much details. (So you can add your own "Custom" designs to the master piece.Marker's, sharpies, and some gel pens bled though paper. I used a few sheets of paper between sheets to alleviate ruining the next page and to help with not leaving indentations on the next sheet.

I bought this as a gift for an older disabled man who has never used an adult coloring book. When I asked him if he'd be interested, he said he might as long as it wasn't flowers, kitties, hearts or anything "girly". Since he needs a hobby and loves cars and history, this seems like the perfect introduction for him. I'm used to coloring in books that open like a normal book with the picture facing you on the right. This is not like that. I just received it and was surprised that the pictures are sideways. I hope it doesn't cause a problem, making it awkward to color the top picture with the bottom one in the way, if he's sitting in a chair. But then again maybe he can color it sideways? There's a thought as I'm wondering more about what I would do. Or he could carefully tear out the non-perforated pages. I'll leave that up to him! Looking again at the inside example at top of this item, it does show the pictures sideways. I always carefully check reviews and samples before purchasing, but it didn't register with me about the turned pics as I have never seen one like that before, which is why I'm focusing on that aspect here for others who aren't aware it will be like that. I really liked the theme for this man and the reviews. Hopefully he will enjoy it when I give it to him. The paper is sturdy, the pictures are well-done and there are plenty to keep someone busy for a very long time. I would use only colored pencils on these so as not to mess up any picture you want to color on the reverse side. Shipping and packaging were excellent! This is a well-made product at a good price.

I bought this and a couple of other car coloring books for Texasman, who is an unabashed car lover. It's the one interest he's had since he was just a boy, lusting after Corvettes and Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers. And the '57 Chevys, too.I don't think he intends to actually color the pages, though if he ever slows down he might. The pictures are hand drawn (or so they look to me) more like illustrations than photographs. The paper is thick enough to handle markers, I think, though colored pencils would probably work best.If you know someone who loves the old cars of their childhood, this will make a wonderful gift, whether they ever color them or not .

Bought for a man with developmental issues ( 50's but acts more like a young teenager) who loves to color. It was cool that it was real cars. He liked it.

The nice thing about this book is that the cars are placed in various environments so there’s more to color.

Bonito y detallado

10 year old son loves the accuracy of the cars but he and I, though having some good laughs, would probably have chosen a version without the period correct fashion wearing people in nearly all of the pictures.
